This. It honestly beggars belief that amount of focus that goes on our spending (especially when we have recently spent a metric fuckton), when our history of spending big money well is beyond awful in that...we've never signed a player for relative big money and them be anything more than a millstone around our neck, while our most cherished and valuable players were signed for sensible fees, a pittance, or for nothing at all. There's a lesson there.Disagree, I would prefer he spends as little as necessary for us to win.
Do we really want to be another spending club, that just buys the tin with superstar names? I've never seen Spurs as that type of club, and I hope I never do. Yes, bring in top players but while it frustrates a lot of fans when we don't get this one or that over the line, Levy has rarely had us bent over and spanked for deals.
Yes, we've seen one or two - N'dombele being the most recent big spend that's bitten us on the arse, but hindsight is a wonderful thing - but that should demonstrate why it's critical for a club not backed by a bottomless pit of money to be more astute when putting cash down on big players, on big wages. That's where we look at Munn and see what he can do, to get us the best deals for the players Ange needs, so when the time comes that there is a huge opportunity to bring in someone actually worth the dough, it's there.
As little as necessary until the time comes, thank you very much.
We just need to be signing the right players, for the right manager. And we've certainly been signing the right kind of players for the past 18 months, and now seem to have the right kind of manager.
