This still qualifies as spurs chat right? It's about spurs, tho slim pickings on details...

O Jogo scoop AVB’s 1st interview since his Tottenham sacking, rules out moves to Benfica or Sporting

Portuguese paper O Jogo have scooped an exclusive on Boxing Day, getting the first interview with Andre Villas-Boas after he was sacked from his post at Tottenham.

AVB said that his time at Tottenham was a “great experience”, while the Portuguese coach also spoke about his thoughts for the next stage in his career.

The former Spurs and Chelsea manager told O Jogo:

The most likely course of action is to wait for the end of the season before thinking of embracing a new project. Now is a time of reflection for me and for my coaching staff, and repositioning of our careers. England was a great experience for us and a great professional development.

Obviously we are aware that we could and should have achieved better sporting results at Tottenham… I wish I had reciprocated the confidence of supporters with a trophy. We had great ambitions to win a trophy this season.

When directly asked about his departure from White Hart Lane, AVB politely declined to elaborate: ”I would rather not talk about it.”

Moving onto his future Villas-Boas admitted that FC Porto remain close to his heart and the coach refused to rule out the possibility of somehow returning to the Dragons. AVB did however categorically shut the door on suggestions that he could take over the reigns at either Benfica or Sporting Lisbon, calling such rumours “impossible”.

He's always seemed like a nice enough guy - he was just out of his depth in the EPL

I think the Chelsea job probably came way too early in his career and Levy was simply crazy to offer him the Spurs job after that.

I hope for his sake that he can get a job more in his comfort zone and develop his skills as a manager, learn his trade so to speak. Who knows he may go on to become a top manager in time

I'm personally not going to speak about AVB anymore because I don't want to sound like I am bashing him and he's no longer relevant to Spurs.

The debates about where he messed up and if he should have been sacked or even hired in the first place are all pointless now - he's been sacked and we've all moved on, good luck to him in the future.

I really hope he goes on to great things.

He might not of played the so called Spurs way, but I obviously missed all the turgid football he apparently introduced. My only gripe was the Ade and BaE situation, but until the loss of Danny Rose and lack of cover before he was injured, we had a very good defensive record this season.

Next week we play Man U and Arsenal, and honestly before he was sacked I still felt confident we would get some result! honestly now I'm not so sure. If we play the same system we did against S'ton we will get stuffed even if the matches might be more exciting to view

Ps we are sitting in the car waiting for my brats 1st ever EPL match, and my daughter is missing him big time

It was the team that needed the confidence unfortunately but wish Andre well.

In fairness, Levy sacks managers at an only slightly slower rate than Abramovich. Three seasons ago, we got 62 points.

AVB hasn't really had time to develop his tactics or done a proper apprenticeship. He is still doing it by numbers on a white board. I don't think he really understands that things cant be controlled completely in a live game and you need to be a lot more flexible than relying totally on a system.

Still he left us in reasonable shape irrespective of the Wham, Pool and Man City results. Tim has to build on that now. Good luck in the next job AVB (y)
