Well surprise bloody surprise. People who earn shitloads of money try to avoid paying taxes as much as possible, wether it's legal or not.

Big difference between legal and not. In this instance it seems to be entirely legal.

If it's legal anyways why did we need a big investigation about it? Not like they're busted then as everyone knew and noone can change it.

Aight, scrap that "noone need it" from me. The Austrian newspaper involved in this just released some funny clauses from footballers' contracts.

https://cms.falter.at/falter/2016/12/06/die-wunderbare-welt-der-fussballervertraege/

Apparently, Lloris gets a 3.5k Bonus for every game we draw or lose, Firmino can go to any club in the world that is willing to meet the minimum buyout clause, except for Arsenal, and vdv could wear any shoes while at Betis, as long as they weren't Red. This is gonna be funny.

Didn't the dodgy ex Thai PM buy & sell Man City in a short period of time ? A couple of years for a massive multi million pound profit isn't bad work if you can get it.

I heard the HMRC is getting together a big case file on Jose. Sounds quite serious.
Cant put a tease like that and not provide info! Now you've piqued my interest! What are the allegations? As far as I am aware, there is no law against being a massive twat.

It came from Dan Roan I bumped into him on a Xmas night out last week, some people in our company know him. I was a bit pissed and I've only just remembered the headline of what the twat said, not the details but it sounded quite serious as my hazy recollection can recall.

Boy do i hope he's right. A christmas full of more mourinho drama and united in tatters is my dream(well besides for chelsea getting sanctioned beyond belief with auto relegation).

As an aside, isnt he also being investigate by the Spanish authorities for tax fraud/evasion? Could've sworn i read that somewhere.

Lots of Mendes/ex-Real Madrid players and staff are in deep for unpaid taxes. Seems to be that the Spanish govt woke up and realised they need to find some money from somewhere so they are chasing footballers.. and maybe JM has carried that scheme over to his time in England.

Getting caught diddling your taxes in Spain is different to here though. You can get banged up here.

Yep, there it's just a fine - part of the shakedown procedure.

Not quite. You get a sentence but it's 21 months (Messi got 21 months) so under the 24 months you need in Spain to get a custodial. But yeah same thing basically.

Oh Boy the Austrian paper involved here (der Falter if anyone cares) are really going full throttle on this. Sounds like everyone involved in football Transfers in Portugal from the last 20 years could be in deep shit!
