Fantastic performance.

We kept the ball so well. Really encouraging stuff, although not quite sure how much of it was them being atrocious

Massive test next week.

Frustrating to not see changes made when I think we needed it, but I think there were more positives to our play than negatives today and I would say it's a step forward, even if it was 'only Newcastle'.

He kind of explained the lack of changes. He said he wants this team to get used to playing together. A pretty radical way of doing it nowadays!

I am surprised at lack of subs, but when you think about it the players didn't have to over exert themselves whatsoever (and that was before the sending off as well). It was so easy for us on the whole.

I was thinking about it during the game and I thought someone with a bit of pace and energy could have come on but to be fair both lucas and son looked sharp and dangerous.

He said that as a reason for not making changes during the game or when talking about the starting 11?!

He was talking generally but I put it towards him not making subs today.

Yeah I have no issues with the side in general but that would be a strange reason to not make changes during the game. I have to admit I've found Nuno's changes or lack of changes odd ever since the first game when Tanganga was taking off for Doherty, although I'm not sure if that particular one was revealed to be due to an injury.

Anyway, very few complaints in general regarding today's game so don't want to contribute to negativity! Just hopefully in future games we'll utulise our subs bench especially when there are good options on there now and with visibly tiring players on the pitch.

I hope we don't. I'd like to see a strong side and a few rotations to keep up the momentum
I see why you’d say that but the main players need a rest given they had international games also and also the ‘B team’ need minutes for match fitness and individual motivation and morale, if it was EL or CL then sure play a 50% or near full strength team but it’s Europa Conference League so especially in these group stages we should be fine to play a complete B side and still get results.

Done a good job so far. Fairly quickly got to what I believe is our best XI. Wasted no time getting Royal and Romero in the XI, has Tanguy looking hungry, has Dier playing well, 4 points off top having played 2 of the best 3 teams.

The only concerns are the goal difference but if Harry starts scoring we know that changes and the Arsenal performance was dreadful. We wouldn't have lost to Palace with 11 men.

I like what I see so far and look forward to seeing him build on it.

I think it's fair to say that that was our best performance under Nuno. Some really nice football played to work our way up the pitch.

I think yesterday proved that Nuno is not a complete berk. Not that he is going to be a title winner either. He should as should any half decent manager be getting top 6 with those players.

Last couple of outings have been entertaining to watch, and we've waited a couple of years for that. To add some context, NUFC were utter shite, but we kept going at them and weathered a couple of low points. At last Tanguy seems to have stepped up and that's a massive + for us. He won't often get as much space as they gave him yesterday though. kane seems to have rekindled a bit of interest and hopefully a goal will set him off again. Nuno's doing OK and has us moving in the right direction since the Arsenal abhorration.

True, but then Crystal Palace are utter shite too, and look what happened there.

I didn't realise until looking at the table yesterday that Palace have only won 1 game all season, which was their 3-0 against us. They've only scored 8 goals all season, 3 of which they got against us in the space of 17 minutes.

If it weren't for that one result, which looks more and more like an anomaly the further we get into the season, we'd now be 3rd, which is crazy really.

Of course, as shite as Palace are, I'd be delighted for them to bank another 3-0 win this evening...

I'd put it down to a settling in process. He's now got Romero integrated, Tanguy putting in a shift and Kane back from cloud cuckoo land. He's also trusting Skipp (who's been excellent) and got Dier putting in steady performances. Emerson is nailing down the RB spot. I think all of that gets Nuno a pat on the back.

Absolutely.

I said a few weeks ago that if things settle down and we start churning out performances and results, then the mitigating factors which were against Nuno at the start of the season - and there were plenty - will begin to carry more weight.

That won't be enough for the small, vocal band of hateful, sociopathic nutcases on here who loathe the guy so intensely for no reason whatsoever that they were falling over their own keyboards to accuse him of demanding play continue despite a man having a heart attack in the stands yesterday.

Same people who punch their monitors with fury because they didn't like the expression on his face during a 2 second Sky Sports clip mid-game.

But for normal people, there are clear signs of improvement, learning from previous errors, and growing cohesion within the squad.

There were quite a few comments in the match thread (me included) during the first 15 minutes that we didn’t look like we had a plan. I guess that was because newcastle flew out the traps and disrupted us. But once we got the game under control we managed to win the game with ease. Let’s hope that it is enough to beat most of the teams in the league. I think getting the ball forward quickly into space behind the fullback is a good idea when struggling (which we did) as it helped us get up the pitch and get the attacking players on the ball more. West Ham will be interesting actually, a perfect test for us in many regards.

Nuno has found a better balance now with the 4-2-3-1. He has found his starting XI with maybe Gio pushing for Tanguys place.
Thats a good thing and we look better going forward, I would like him to be more advanced with his subs. It feels to me, not only yesterday, that he is too afraid to make things worse rather than having ideas for solutions.
Gil for Lucas after 70, Gio for Tanguy after 80 and Tanganga for Emerson after the red card for me yesterday, but anyway. I just hope the squad is not getting moody with this as I could imagine it will piss some players off if a certain group is not even trusted to come on for ten minutes.

I think he's just trying to get a bit of consistency and team spirit going and sending Tanguy the message that he can get 90 mins if he puts the effort in. A bit tough on Gio but a rest after the S American trip won't do him any harm and hopefully he shines in the ECL game.
