So a pre contract for next year? Think he has one more year left on his contract. Unless he is being released, which is doubtful

As far as I'm aware, we can't sign/agree anything until January but lots of media sources running with this so worth having the thread so it doesn't distract from the discussion thread.

Would love this. Would be an outstanding get for us, and provide both goals and energy in midfield

Personally I can see this being the kind of deal that Fabio would be all over, but I would have preferred to see a bid over the transfer window. If he goes on a free I don't see how we can compete with Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid and whoever else from the top echelons will be interested in him by January. It would be a massive coup.

Agree on this and he looks a very good player but he doesn't score goals from open play really.

Of his 13 league goals last season, 11 were actually penalties (and I doubt he would take pens with us).

In 19/20, he scored 4 league goals, 2 were pens. In 18/19 he scored 7 league goals, 3 were pens.

So in open play (at least so far) he's no more of a goal threat than Hojbjerg or Ndombele really.

Would he be an upgrade on our starting 11?

Realistically he would compete with Skipp and Hojbjerg for either the DM or slightly more defensive B2B role in our midfield 3.

At the very least he would provide top quality rotation/competition.

He would walk into our starting 11 as a B2B midfielder in my view, with Hojbjerg starting deeper at DM. Then Dele, GLC or Ndombele (whoever is performing) as the more advanced / creative of the three.

That would be excellent if we could seal this before the transfer window opens.

Kessie, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Sarr... CM would be sorted.

Kessie next to Hojbjerg would allow us to bully teams off the park like we used to with Dembele and Wanyama/Dier.

We were at our best when we were a very physical team under Poch. Im all for this transfer if we can make it happen.

Just imagine a fully motivated Ndombele alongside Kessie and Hojbjerg. We would have the best midfield in the league! All of them speak French btw.

Rob’s at if again with his crazy thread starting shenanigans! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

We’re gonna have Messi and Ronaldo up top with Kessie behind them in midfield baby!

And therein lies the peril of just looking up his Wikipedia stats ?

Watched him a few times but just assumed he’d scored more in other weeks…

Ugh, some or all of that £30m that went unspent on Traore could’ve been put to good use in so many ways. Unfortunately I don’t think we stand a chance if he becomes a free agent.

People were wanting Bissouma, Kessié is even better.

If this is true and Paraciti is able to offer him the wages to persuade him to come, this is VERY a good news and makes me feel a little less concerned about Levy blocking Traore as more of a one-off hopefully.

Those stats won’t stop people (probably including yourself) from wanking themselves unconscious about Bruno fucking Fernandes, though.

This is why Levy needed to be upfront about not paying for Traore.

At least Nuno would have known it wasn't on from the start and FP, SH could have worked towards other deals that will help us now.

Who was the last player we got on a pre contract for no fee?

Feels like we should be able to make more of these deals but never do. Hopefully Fabio can work some wonders and pull one or two out the hat. Kessie would give us depth at midfield, along with Sarr coming next season that we wouldn't need to worry about that position for a long time. Plus no fee would be incredible business, more in the budget for the invisible backup striker.

Except for a #10 if Lo Celso or Ndombele don't step it up this year.
