Apparently: http://www.at5.nl/artikelen/131299/...ottenham-vertrokken-als-ze-me-gevraagd-hadden

Interesting, if entirely irrelevant, quote of the day, picked up by Hotspur Related

According to @BabettevHaaren on Twitter: "Frank de Boer: 'I probably would have said yes if Tottenham had asked me to become their new manager.'"

However, the translation of that Dutch new story above through Google Translate says:
"'It's like a business. It is voted on. Eventually, they have chosen the Argentine Mauricio Pochettino,' says de Boer. But if it had been up to De Boer which had been so different. 'It was pretty close, yes,' said the coach."

Which isn't quite that.

So there you go…

Time will tell if the Poch appointment was correct or not, for me it was the bigger gamble of the two. FDB was the less risky option as doing it for one season only in England does not mark you out for greatness. Winning 4 titles in a row and beating euro giants in the CL to me shows you have genuine ability.......

Oh well no point crying over spilt milk now......

I was pro FDB too, but that quote has disappointed me as it shows a bit of a lack of respect for Ajax and their fans. As good a manager as he might be, he really needs to learn to keep his mouth shut about such things.

I wanted him too, but he does seem to speak just a touch too much. After 'Honest Tim' with all the drivel he came out with, FdB chatting away openly in the press probably gave Levy the shivers.

Both were a gamble; anyone would be. Not many managers have unblemished records; not even the greats. Past success counts for nothing at a new club. The best you can do is find a manager with a philosophy that fits that of the club, give them some time and hope for the best. On the face of it both FdB and Poch were acceptable appointments, and I am not unhappy with Poch. But I cannot understand why anyone would get excited about the appointment of a manager before a ball has been kicked.

Speaking as a fan who wants information about the club he supports and how the manager sees things, I would much sooner listen to a Redknapp, a Sherwood, a de Boer or a van Gaal, than suffer the bland broken English of Villas-Boas or Pochettino.

I prefer someone who plays the best football, tbh. In recent times that's been Redknapp, but I think Pochettino has every chance of doing similar. Couldn't give a crap about his interviews if he gets the team doing it on the pitch (unlike AVB and Sherwood).

Couldn't agree more; I am just astonished that press conferences seem to be such an issue for some of our fans, and as the post I replied to suggested, apparently the board.

I'm not surprised, he always seemed keen.

Just glad we've got who we wanted though. Hopefully MoPo will be given the time he needs to build a successful team.

of course he'd have said yes and he's not the only one, we are Tottenham Hotspur!

He was saying he is happy at Ajax in April. Now saying something different. If I'm Ajax fan, i would be disappointed with this.

He also talking about this when Tim was in charge. Not sure what he is thinking at this moment.
