Ahhhh such a shame Townsend isn't starting so Defoe could get a taste of his own medicine:D

Feeling sorry for lamela and paulhino already, don't expect to be on the end of any give and go moves boys

Ah I kid, come on jermaine!

Avb will put Lamela on the left won't he? Please someone tell me this isn't so!
yeppers,... but it would seem you and I would like to see Lamela inside as the #10..... one day perhaps, but seemingly not tonight...

Be really interesting to see how Capoue/Sandro works. Sounds too defensive but I get the feeling it might surprise us, really not sure how it will play out

Why does AVB keep sticking Lamela out of position on the left!!!! What is the point, he doesn't look comfortable there and it's not going to do much for his confidence if he puts in another poor performance because of this. What's wrong with playing Townsend left and Lamela centre! I don't understand.

He doesn't look comfortable there after one game, where we went to shit as quick as you could click your fingers?

I agree its not his best position but he's right to stick with Lennon on the right, and I think Lamela can offer more than any other option we have for the left in terms of creative spark.

Lets just wait and see how he does and we do as a team first.

Dreaming of the day I get to see Lamela, Soldado & Chadli all start the same game. Add Eriksen to that list of 3 when he is fit too.

I don't really understand why Dembele or Lamela couldn't be played in the advanced (no.10) role instead of Paulinho and Paulinho given a rest, I think he's played every game so far.

It'll be interesting to see how Capoue operates with a bit of security alongside him. I don't mind the team in all honesty, would have obviously preferred Soldado but JD can take a chance if one falls to him.

Lest we forget, Defoe got a brace in this fixture last season. Often influences Andre's selections.

Excited to see axis of Sandro and Capoue.

I imagine he'll be given a pass to roam inwards, and to switch with Lennon once in a while...

starting defoe is the least concerning thing on that team sheet tbh

Playing a 30m player out of position and playing another som
ebody who clearly isnt a #10 in his position concerns me the most

Concerning? Out of position?

I'm assuming your not at training with them every morning so how do you know paulhino isn't showing best in more advanced roles in terms of being a goal threat, and lamela isn't doing great things linking from the left which better suits a particular system that's being worked on while eriksen is out?

Can't understand how Defoe has got into this team.

Just when Paulinho and Soldado look as though they can work together he changes it AGAIN.

Continuity is what is needed. Not fucking change.

I wanted continuity too, but AVB be da boss.

In all fairness to Defoe, his hold up play, touch and releasing of the ball have improved. They still aren't great, but these parts to his game used to be a non entity.

Mind you, Jan/Lamela left side is a massive upgrade on the previous clusterfuck that was Naughton/Sigurdsson, i call that progress of a kind.
