Worst player on pitch, cant play on the left, didnt even make the Utd squad. But yeah will start away to Fulham!

He wasn't the worst player on the pitch, far, far from it. Not sure what game you were watching. About the only one, aside from Lennon, who tried to do something.

Saw him running into a lot of players and losing the ball. If thats what you mean. If he starts tonight ill owe you a big apology. He wont though. Not sure he will even be on the bench

He will definitely be on the bench at least. My guess is he wasn't taken on Sunday since he doesn't help the FB enough considering we were playing the champs. Today is completely different, and maybe a good opportunity to give him a start. I expect to at least see 30 mins from him if on the bench.

He beat a few actually and then was crowded out of it on a couple of occasions, but yeah at least he had a go, I doubt many agree with you anyway. And considering his brother has said he's starting/included in the squad - can't seen him being out of the squad all together unless he's picked up a late injury in training or something.

Btw, trying to identify the worst player on the pitch vs city is like trying to pick the ugliest turd in a bucket full of shit. Everyone was terrible, and the system and tactics were the worst thing about the game.

Lamela wasn't the best against City but he wasn't our worst ether and he was playing out of position. I think, and hope, he will feature tonight I just pray he is not dumped on the left again, it's a waist of talent. I would like to see him in the number 10 role with Townsend left and Lennon right.

Now that i agree on. Going to be a tough game tonight and will need battlers. Think this maybe better for a home game

I would prefer to see Townsend on the left as opposed to the right though, and I do agree this will be a real battle

While Vertonghen added: "I enjoy playing with Nacer Chadli. I can talk to him, he talks and he is very conscientious in everything that's asked from him.

"He makes my job as a left-back more comfortable."

I would assume based on this Chadli will probably start

I feel a bit sorry for Lamela if i'm honest. The game he should have started in was at home to the barcodes. He really could and probably would have pushed on riding from his confidence from the EL game. The away game at City was not the ne to start him in and i'm baffled by that still!!

It's a shame that Lennon had a cracker on sunday, because I would like Lamela to start tonight, but I don;t want to see him on the left and Lennon deserves to keep his spot.

Agree, poor decision to start him against City at their place.

But, it's happened, so we continue now.

I'd like to see him given a go tonight, but happy with either combination of Townsend, Lennon & lemala in all truthfulness.

However, we do tend to play better with Lennon for some reason though.

I'm not sure they'll play the same formation, but with the quality of player we have, putting Soldado and Lamela up front in a 4132 would expose their defence. The 1 is Sandro or Capoue...

If Lamela plays, i think we should push him up nearer to Soldado in the role Paulinho played against Utd.
That should be the only change with maybe Kaboul for Dawson, YK needs to brush a few cobwebs away.

It's funny, I was actually thinking that if we keep failing to supply Soldado then we should try doing a Barca and play Lamela up front as a false 9 instead. It would mean we can actually make a point of most of our goals coming from midfield rather then trying to force a poacher. But I was going to wait for Lamela to start playing to his level before suggesting it in fear of being laughed at. Ether way, he could do very well sitting alongside Soldado.
