It's funny, I was actually thinking that if we keep failing to supply Soldado then we should try doing a Barca and play Lamela up front as a false 9 instead. It would mean we can actually make a point of most of our goals coming from midfield rather then trying to force a poacher. But I was going to wait for Lamela to start playing to his level before suggesting it in fear of being laughed at. Ether way, he could do very well sitting alongside Soldado.

I think it is worth a try, i really thought AVB had cracked it when Ade got sent off against the Goons last season and he altered the team for the second half, Utd was the first time he has shown any imagination since that game, AVB seems to struggle with balancing a side, i like the 4132 idea, especially against Fulham, front 6 something like
Sandro
Lennon Dembele Chadli
Soldado Lamela

You mean to tell me this match will not be televised in the leagues own country, but I am able to watch it, along with every other game, across the pond here in America on NBC Sports or it's streaming service? That's absurd!

We don't have a midfield like Barca to consider playing with no striker. Can you imagine how the media would slaughter AVB if we failed to score.

West Ham played without a striker... we know what happened there! (and they're rubbish) ;)

They've been playing without a striker all season. Look at their league position and fans calling for Big Sam to leave. ;)

True, but we still manage to dominate possession in most games so we are not a million miles away, I would also say Lamela is much more a forward then Fabregas is. One could also say that Soldado hasn't really had any impact on our attack yet, save for taking the odd defender out of the game for a moment. Don't get me wrong, mim not saying we should do it, it's just a interesting option to have.

I disagree with this suggestion. The main issue is that Soldado is actually playing like a false number 9 when he should be playing further forward. He is playing too often with his back to goal and linking up the play but not always in the box when we need him to be. He needs to be playing on the shoulder of the last defender and leaving the link up play to someone else. All his goals come inside the box but he can't link up play and get into the box quickly enough.

I do fancy Lamela in that position behind the striker though, just not at the expense to Soldado as this would result in the same problem of not getting a forward into the box. We need the number 10 player to run at teams and not slow it down too much. Lamela has that ability he just needs to work on his upper body strength so he isn't shoved off the ball too much.

One called for hoddle and one called for di canio, early. They don't need the grief and palarva di canio would bring, especially with an Olympic stadium in the pipe line.

I don't think i could possibly disagree more! Soldado is constantly on the shoulder of the back four and doesnt drop off enough. The problem is the wide forwards play too deep and dont make enough runs behind the back four! They should be supporting Soldado, dragging away defenders and offering direct pace. If they do that the no.10 can drop deeper link up play and spray the ball about. That's what we need. Not a pacy no.10

Hopefully the Demeble injury is not his dodgy hip

I can see it now- surgery and out for rest of season- that would be just our luck
