BBC Live Text
15:18 SUBSTITUTION Setback for Tottenham at Fulham as defender Michael Dawson limps off with what appears to be a thigh injury after making a clearance. Substitute William Gallas, 35, makes an earlier-than-expected introduction.
15:23 YELLOW CARD Now then, some controversy at the Cottage where Gareth Bale has been booked for diving for the second game in a row. He hurdles a challenge from Steve Sidwell and goes to ground but is shown a yellow card by Chris Foy. There didn't appear to be too much contact, but he was running at full pace.
16:14 GOAL - Fulham 0-1 Tottenham - Sandro
He does not get many, but Sandro puts Spurs ahead with a real howitzer at Fulham. The Brazilian is not closed down at all in the midfield and he decides to take aim from 30 yards. He hits it really sweetly and gets some late inswing which beats Mark Schwarzer down at his near post.
16:16 YELLOW CARD Bizarre booking at Loftus Road as William Gallas is shown the card. Gallas goes off for a spot of treatment and comes back on without the referee's permission. Strange yellow card.
16:20 SUBSTITUTION That is a big blow for Tottenham. Gareth Bale has to come off and Gylfi Sigurdsson is on in his place.
16:31 GOAL - Fulham 0-2 Tottenham - Jermain Defoe
Who needs Gareth Bale? Replacement Gylfi Sigurdsson makes this one with a wonderful slaloming run, beating two men down the left channel before coolly picking out Jermain Defoe in the middle, and the England man slams home from close range.
16:35 GOAL - Fulham 0-3 Tottenham - Jermain Defoe (77 mins)
Spurs are running riot now, and Jermain Defoe is on fire. Clint Dempsey pays the Fulham fans back for booing him earlier on with a clinical through-ball into Defoe's path. He sprints clear of the defenders and just picks his spot, passing the ball into the corner.
16:42 Substitution Tom Carroll comes on in place of Mousa Dembele.

Tottenham's Mousa Dembele and Clint Dempsey reunited with Fulham
Tottenham Hotspur's Mousa Dembele and Clint Dempsey will be reunited with Fulham in Saturday's London derby.

The pair will return to Craven Cottage at the weekend for the first time since making their respective summer moves to White Hart Lane.

Dempsey, in particular, left Fulham under somewhat of a cloud after an apparent falling out with manager Martin Jol which resulted in the American being exiled from the team.

The forward will therefore likely have a point to prove against his former employers and will want to help Andre Villas-Boas' Spurs build on wins over West Ham United and Liverpool.

Fulham, meanwhile, earned a respectable draw at neighbours Chelsea in midweek and ex-Spurs boss Jol will now want to get back to winning ways in another derby.

As much praise as Fulham have earned for their Dimitar Berbatov-inspired attractive football, they have not won a Premier League game in six attempts.

That run of form has seen Fulham slip into the bottom half of the table and fifth-placed Champions League hopefuls Spurs will want to capitalise.

And the omens are good for Tottenham, who have won their last five league games against Fulham and have not lost in seven.

Fulham
Fulham will be without centre-back Brede Hangeland, who completes a three-match suspension after his red card against Sunderland.

But boss Martin Jol could be boosted by the return from a hamstring injury of Kieran Richardson, who has not played since the dramatic draw at Arsenal on 10th December.

But key man Bryan Ruiz and Alexander Kacaniklic are expected to remain on the sidelines with their own hamstring problems.

Tottenham
Defender Steven Caulker has overcome illness and is fit for Tottenham's trip to Craven Cottage.

Caulker missed the midweek win over Liverpool and now must wait and see if he regains his place.

Emmanuel Adebayor completes his three-match suspension but Scott Parker (Achilles), Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Younes Kaboul (both knee) are out.

Fulham have Kieran Richardson available again, with the 28-year-old now recovered from a hamstring injury.

Alex Kacaniklic and Bryan Ruiz are still out (hamstring), as is Simon Davies (hip), while Brede Hangeland serves out his three-match ban.

Potentially, this is a game where the goals could really flow.

Both teams had a very good midweek result. Tottenham's win over Liverpool was their second on the bounce after three successive defeats, so they have turned the corner again. Fulham's draw at Chelsea was largely overlooked as the spotlight inevitably fell on Rafa Benitez and the Blues' shortcomings, but for the visitors it was an impressive performance.

Though both capital clubs are in relatively good shape, the form book favours the north-east Londoners - Spurs have won the last five Premier League meetings, although Fulham did beat them 4-0 at Craven Cottage in the 2011 FA Cup fourth round.

I covered Tottenham's victory at Craven Cottage last season, a 3-1 November win when Harry Redknapp was in hospital recovering from heart surgery. Spurs were playing some of their best football for years, and even being talked of as potential title contenders. But their season somewhat fell away soon after. Much has changed since then, of course.

Spurs will have to pay attention to old favourite Dimitar Berbatov. In two seasons at Spurs he scored 46 goals in all competitions and he has not lost against his former club in six outings since leaving. He's also scored 23 goals in his last 27 Premier League starts. His class remains.

On the other hand, Clint Dempsey - now with Spurs but Fulham's record Premier League goal-scorer - has been a little rueful about the circumstances in which he left; he will be desperate to make a mark. This is also Mousa Dembele's first return to Craven Cottage. The match will have a special meaning for all three players.

It will also make Martin Jol's heart beat a little quicker. He took Tottenham to fifth place on two occasions when he was in charge at White Hart Lane, and remains something of a cult hero with the fans there.

And what about in-form Jermaine Defoe? He is on 64 goals for Spurs in his second spell with the club, having scored 64 during his first. He'll be very happy to disturb that nice symmetry on Saturday.

With a host of attacking players to the fore, a goalless draw is unlikely - especially when you consider the number of high-scoring games both clubs have been involved in this season. Allied to that, Spurs have only kept one clean sheet in 14 Premier League games so far.

matchfacts.jpg

Head-to-head

  • Tottenham have won the last five Premier League matches between the two clubs.
  • Fulham last beat Spurs at home in the league in November 2008, winning 2-1 (Harry Redknapp's first loss as Tottenham boss).

    Fulham
  • They have not won for six Premier League games (D4, L2).
  • Fulham's starting line-up against Chelsea had an average age of 32 years and 32 days, the oldest of any Premier League club for almost three years since Portsmouth in March 2010.
  • They have lost 50 of 101 London derbies in the Premier League.
  • Dimitar Berbatov is unbeaten in all six Premier League matches against Tottenham since leaving the club (four wins). He has scored once (in Manchester United's 5-2 home victory in April 2009).

    Tottenham
  • Spurs have conceded in each of their last seven Premier League matches, and kept only one clean sheet all season.
  • Gareth Bale has been booked three times for simulation since the start of last season - more than any other player in the Premier League during that period.
  • Tottenham have made more defensive clearances (645) than any other team in the Premier League this season.
  • Midfielder Tom Huddlestone will be hoping to make his 100th Premier League start for Tottenham.
  • Clint Dempsey scored 58 league goals for Fulham between 2007-12, making him the club's record Premier League goalscorer. Mousa Dembele made 62 Premier League appearances for Fulham between 2010-12, scoring five goals.

You really want me to cast another spell? If it goes tits up i'll be hounded :(

There's always a risk. However, you also have to trust your gut instinct. It did work for Liverpool and helped get us out of a jam.

Perhaps, today is not the right time though ...

Of course. :)

Surprised there wasn't one already, actually. ;)
Done.

I'm thinking of doing a match thread predictor.

The time of the first whinge post will be?

Trouble is, it's almost always either once the teams are announced or within 3 minutes of the game starting. There's no value :(
