Exactly. I'm tempted to slap down £100, but i've got a little nagging doubt telling me not to.

I mean, there would be an absolute uproar if we did sell him this summer from the fans, especially to them. I'm the same as you; I'm almost certain it won't happen but can't bring myself to put a large wager on it :cautious:

Yep. I've been adamant all summer that he won't go, but now i'm less confident. Man, I need to grow some balls here.

sounds to me like utd are just trying to deflect attn. away from the mess they're making over rooney's situation by telling fans, via the press, they're going to sign bale...surely utd fans aren't that stupid to believe that we'll sell bale after knocking Madrid back all summer

This is 100% what's happened! Ferguson leaving and Rooney getting badly handled is too much for them to take, so they had sb at the club, phone up holt and say this. He even wrote that its an attempt to deflect negative publicity.

Apparently £50 million is r ip off and if they are 'shrewd' they can get him for less.

Also another gem

'Give them £40m + Nani or £25m + Rooney and I'll snap your hand off to have him here. We would tear shit up next season with Bale in our team, especially if/when you add a new midfielder into the mix as well.'

Makes me genuinely angry when other fans are so delusional about transfers... Shows a real dislikeable and obnoxious side.

just the way it is.. we over value our players, under value other teams players and the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Luckily Levy is firmly in the over value school when it comes to our top players.

In all seriousness even if they try to embark on a quest to sign Bale this summer it simply won't happen. Levy has said he won't be sold this summer and they'll be rebuffed exactly the same way Madrid were. Bale will still have a massive value next summer.

Expect the papers to run a similar story in a few weeks to that of when Madrid said we wouldn't negotiate. It will be the same outcome - if it even gets that far.

Dont get me wrong he wont leave this summer. But if there is a big bid we would have to sit down and talk about it at the club.
But i think they dont want bale this summer i think there are after a modric type player if not modric himself!

It's no worse than some fans on here saying we should give Villa 17m + Livermore and they should be grateful. Bale is our star player just like Benteke is Villas.

I'd respectfully disagree on that front. The valuations we've put on Benteke are only at most £5 million or so off what the majority of Villa fans want/expect... I'd like to think regarding this situation we've been realistic and not obnoxious.

That's nothing in terms of Manure fans basically claiming they could have Bale for less than 1/2 of what we expect to get.

I'm loving the fact that united have bid £60m for one of our players and we're laughing it off. It's like a dream. Their fans are offering up Rooney AND £25m and people are angry at undervaluation! It's fantastic.

Exactly right.

However there is a fundamental difference here. Villa have stated they're prepared to sell, on their terms of course. We have said we aren't - according to AVB.

I know that wasn't your point, it was to do with fans etc...but just making the point nevertheless.

That's quite a ridiculous fact to ponder over tbh mate... We're talking about a player who was heralded as England's golden boy and widely regarded as one of the most exciting English talents in decades. Yet we still would be pissed off over that + £25 million; who would have thought Spurs fans could have been in this position!

We are talking about an unfit player who sulks if he does not have his way, in addition to his wages being way over our wage structure
vs
A player who clearly has not created a fuss even through all of this shit being thrown at us from RM, MU etc...

Quite a tough one that!

The difference is that Benteke has handed in a transfer request and intimated that he wants to play for us whereas Bale has not made any noise whatsoever about a move despite being tapped up by the biggest club in the world, in a league he has repeatedly stated that he wants to play in one day.

Man U are a club in transition and they are just trying to keep their fans on side IMO. They don't expect to sign Bale or Fabregas but they have to be seen to be trying. Their days of signing truly world class players are drawing to close with the pulling power of Real Madrid, Barca and the money clubs of PSGS, Monaco, Chelsea and Man City.

If we were prepared to sell Bale to another PL club Man City or Chelsea would make Man U's bid look silly.
