Can everyone take the emotion out of this (and the school holidays) and post sensible, constructive comments.

We bought a kid for £5m who had 4 crap seasons and 2 great ones and are now being offered a world record fee.

Which head-banger cannot see the sense in selling him now?
Me... I can't, even when I take the emotion out of it I could see what an absolute phenomenon the kid was all along and I always knew, and said, he would be the player he has become just as I know he will have another storming season next year because he isn't a normal good player, he is a once in a generation star.
Taking the emotion out of it we can do better with him here this year, maybe well enough for him to stay maybe not but even if not we will still get a massive price for him, and taking the emotion out of it, with the right outcome this season a drop in price would still financially benefit us anyway.
Quite simply it was not part of our plan to sell him now and it would be bad business to sell him now even for what Madrid are pretending they're offering.
It's not emotion and it's not head banging it's sensible.
It's not personal Rupstoh it's strictly business.

I think we should sell Bale. Not because I don't rate him - I do. Not because of the money - although it's a ridiculous amount. But simply because we (Levy) failed to build up a quality team around him while we had the chance. If it wasn't for Bale we wouldn't even have qualified for EL this season due to lack of quality up front (and on the backs) and Bale made the difference all season. Somehow I feel he has paid his dues to us, and he is obviously too good to not feature in CL. I didn't feel this way about Modric (mostly because of his constant whining in the press, a bad last season for us etc.) but I think it is different in this case.
Let's cash in, get the new stadium up and running and build a stronger collective so we are less dependent on one superman to sort things out for us.

Imminent Tottenham signing Roberto Soldado is hoping the club can keep hold of Real Madrid target Gareth Bale.

He told AS: "Bale is a great footballer and you can see the effort Tottenham are making to prevent him from leaving. Of course I want him to stay."

"Prevent him from leaving" is interesting, presumably he would have been given an update on the situation during talks.

Remember English isn't his first language so dont read too much into the part you highlighted. Ta for sharing though!

Diario AS is a Spanish newspaper so I would guess he didn't conduct it in English.
It's mainly a Madrid paper but has a Valencia edition which Roberto most likely spoke to before leaving.

I notice on their homepage, the top story is about the British press saying that the Bale to Madrid deal is just a matter of time. "todo vuestro" means "All yours".

The club have definitely had words with Talksport, im sure of it. Every show ive heard today have said they wont say this name but "refer to the guy whos been linked with a move away". Its (Bales name) only ever mentioned on the news bulletins and that's it. Been completely toned down today.

Guy on now talking bout Soldado btw.

I am very disappointed with the continued BBC coverage and reporting of the Gareth Bale saga. There are no quotes from either Tottenham or the player and information that would appear to emanate from Spain is being mindlessly regurgitated and I am disappointed that the BBC, noted for its news, would appear to be passing gossip on as if it were fact.

I have sent this message of complaint to the BBC and I await their response.
All tweet Ben Pearce the same, it has all come from him.

I wish someone would have a word with Sky. "Real have made world record bid", "Bale has said he wants to leave".

Sorry but where is the proof?? Surely not the same source that led to Talksport being quietened???

I wonder

Until they produce that bit of paper tomorrow.......

Yep and the closer to September what-ever-it-is it gets, the less and less time we are going to get for a replacement. There must be a deadline before we simply say enough

Daily Star running a story tomorrow that Utd are going hard for Ronaldo which would free up funds for Bale. Can't see that myself. Just too complex a deal to tie up now.

The Gooner Hytner at the Guardian has dropped this in the middle of and article about Soldado

Bale did not train again with the Tottenham first-team squad on Thursday morning because, officially, he has struggled with a minor muscle problem for the past two weeks. He will not feature in Saturday's friendly against Monaco in the south of France, for which Tottenham will depart on Friday afternoon. Bale is desperate for Levy to find a solution that allows him to join Real.

Sounds very speculative to me
