Methinks this DiMarzio bloke is getting his info from RM, which will have their slant on it. It does seem that there is a lockdown of info our end.

The footie journalists are the worst at this flip flopping and guessing.

We've been giving Willian a medical since around 6pm yesterday. Every few hours they come out with 'will have medical soon', in the same way they haven't got a fucking clue whats going on with Bale, so just keep making guesses, knowing that eventually, they might get lucky.

Look at Higuain, Villa etc, they take a stab that 'deal to be confirmed soon', then when it isn't, they just move onto the next guess.

For those reasons, there is no point getting caught up too much in the latest twitter breaking news on a deal that nobody outside of the 2 boardrooms is privy to.

Sorry surely the sale of bale would be led by levy not Franco? Just a feeling that Danny has led on the bale situation and he would want total control of what happens.

Not sure all the latest speculation actually means anything more than where we were a week or so ago.

On the 'Bale to stay' side of things, I see the situation as an expensive one for RM. Optimistically i'm thinking Bale would like a move but would be happy with us another season, however I think the price is a bit rich even for RM - I think the left back is a bit of a key in this deal for Real - if they can factor him into the deal with the right amount of cash up front I think they have a deal, however that leaves a few things in Levy's pocket for negotiation and this is never a favourable thing to be up against.

On the other side of things and him potentially leaving - Perhaps we are spending his fee and simply negotiating on how much we can get back straight away from RM. However our spending isn't over yet so surely no deal will be done any quicker - despite some of the recent paper talk.

Regardless of what we do this window, i'd love him here for one more season - I'm seeing a lot of the backlash I see when Modric left but for me Bale is undeserving of any of this. He's a fantastic, young player who performed exceptionally last year for us. I for one would wish him all the best on a move if it came about but would much prefer seeing him run out for us in a few weeks.

Where my stance on this leaves us financially though, I have no idea - Hopefully Joe Lewis loves us enough to see this whole thing as a bit of a gamble - although IMO - GB is still worth the same in another 12months - so not much of a gamble in the long run?

It's a bit cringeworthy how much he wants to be like Ronaldo. I wonder how much interest Bale would have in moving to Madrid if Ronaldo wasn't there.

POTL will enjoy this snippet from the Guardian, frothing over Baldini:

Baldini started lining up Bale replacements 4 weeks ago, so that Berbatov history wouldn't repeat itself. good ad for directors of football

Apparently there seems to be a understanding or theory in Spain that all the attacking players have said no to coming which may to do with breaking the move down but it is understood that should Real Madrid get Bale then one of the players will definitely or be moved on.

For Example Ozil, Di Maria, Jese, Kaka and Morata will all be benchwarmers if Bale comes

We better be demanding Morata in this deal Coentrao or no. We are not going to find a better young forward anywhere else that has had as much top flight experience and trained at one of the world biggest clubs. Coentrao, assuming that he would want to come, can be bought separately. Madrid would demand extortion amounts if we ever tried to get Morata outside of any Bale transfer. Hopefully we can blackmail them into giving him up whilst we have someone they wont.... otherwise we will have to wait a few years until they come back for Lamela......

The thought of Ozil being a bench warmer because of Bale is incredible, this transfer is weird on many levels.

Jese and Kaka wont get anywhere near the bench if Bale goes to them. This is not surprising. They will have to drop one of Isco, Ozil, Modric to fit in Bale, Di Maria has already become bench fodder.... Real Madrid are the real life personification of Football Manager.

Indeed even more so when you consider they are really shit(when compared to the best, since that is their level) at the LB, CB and striker positions

This makes me ridiculously sad. I love Bale, but Ozil is just liquid, magic football. I'd sacrifice whole farmyards worth of goats to have him in our shirt.

maybe they could loan him to us for a season and pay his wages as a token of good will and an expression of our continued special relationship which involves distabilizing us every summer

Queue Ozil being linked to Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal. No doubt if they cant offload Di Maria, Ozil will end up at one of them come January. Somehow i get the feeling that Bale to RM will bight us in the ass, not just from the point of view that we are loosing our best player, but also one or there fantastic castoffs will end up at one of our rivals.
