Even if we can somehow find a way to pay Bale a wage he agrees to, how on earth are we going to afford the transfer fee...

Madrid are gonna want to make at least a small profit on the £80m they paid for him?

Manchester United will offer Real Madrid 140m euros (£121.8m) for 28-year-old Welsh midfielder Gareth Bale. According to AS
https://as.com/futbol/2018/05/29/primera/1527609292_404163.html

After being the great hero of the Thirteenth, Bale took advantage of the celebrations of Madrid on the lawn of the Kiev Olympic to send a message: "I have to sit down with my agent and make a decision . " In this way, the Welshman opened the doors to a possible exit of the white club this summer. The English sports press opened its covers on Monday, signaling United's interest in signing a '11' target , for which it would be willing to offer 140 million euros and pay the player a net salary that exceeded 30 million euros, almost triple what it charges in Madrid (11 million). On Tuesday, the British newspaper Independent claims that Pochettino's Tottenham has joined the bid for the Cardiff end.

According to the English publication, Tottenham plans an operation to bring back the player who sold to Madrid for 101 million euros in the summer of 2013. This operation would include a salary cut for Bale , who would continue to charge 11 million net of the club, but that should renounce the income received by other commercial deals related to Madrid (the Independent says that these exceed 14 million annually). This contractual data would be very similar to what is currently charged by the Tottenham flagship player, Harry Kane , so Bale would not be the highest paid player in the London team . Of course, Tottenham is confident that despite these salary cuts, the desire of the Welshman to play all the minutes he does not have in Madrid and to return to the team in which he exploded as a player would be enough to convince the Welshman.

Interest of Bayern Munich
Bayern is the other great European team that has shown the most interest in signing Bale. As already reported in April that the Bavarian club would be willing to make an economic effort to take the Welsh winger, an option that did not seem to displease the player, who was left wanting a few weeks ago: " That you relate to Bayern is an honor for anyone . " Despite this, it seems that it is unlikely that the German team can reach the price that Madrid intends , close to 150 million euros.
I know there is some semblance of English here and that auto translations are hard but... o_O

Maybe. They are selling him older and more injury prone than he was for us.

Amortisation and all that...

No chance they make a profit on what they paid for him. Regardless if he comes to us or goes elsewhere.

Why? We are asking for £60-70m for toby who is older and just as "injury prone". Toby is a defender and wont shift anywhere near as much merch as bale. Or be as interesting to sponsors.

Breezer has posted in this thread that his information is that we have a previously agreed upon buy back sum. Of course, Trix disagreed with that, but it indicates that there's a chance that the fee might not be as big of an issue for us as it would be for other clubs.

This thread is going round and round in circles.
In summary.

We cant afford him.
We might be able to.
But then other players will want the same money.
Its not gonna happen, forget it.

And repeat.

Exciting times (n)

Let it go. Let it go.

His agent’s been busy leaking all these different stories to the press hasnt he?

Still not sure anyone can afford him or wants him at the current costs/prices quoted.

I wonder if Madrid will have to take a hit and continue to pay some of his wages if he goes. Seems to happen more and more these days in these transfers when the players are on too much money.

RM will have to make a choice who do they keep Bale or Ronnie if they want to bring in new galacticos. Bale will be the one to go in those circumstances IMO.

Based on what? £85m is the going rate for Mahrez now. He has 4 years left on his contract and is currently the most talked about footballer in the world after single handedly winning the CL final and scoring a worldie. I can easily see him going for a profit.

Generally agree but difference I guess is that Leicester don't want to sell Mahrez. Bales only leaving real Madrid if they want to sell him. Plus injuries will factor into the price.

Fuck sake, it ain't gonna happen!!

You know it's funny, because whilst it is HIGHLY unlikely that we re-sign Bale, you don't actually know anything....unless you want to claim this to be ITK?

So the point would be that you saying this is not really any different to someone saying "Bale is definitely going to come back". It's equally pretty ludicrous because none of us know anything at this stage.

However, last time I checked this is an internet forum and this section of it is where we discuss possible transfers. The reality is that we are being linked with Bale so it's therefore open for discussion. If it gets you so upset to see our fans talking about Bale possibly coming back then maybe just avoid this particular thread altogether and save yourself the stress.

Just a thought.

If Bale had continued to be out of form and under the radar during the last month of the season, we may have had the slimmest of chances of signing him.

Truth is, as much as I loved watching him score that goal, in that moment all hope of signing him was gone imo. Probably added £50m to an already high price tag.

Goes to show how fickle football is when 1 goal can make such a huge difference. This is where our scouting team need to earn their crust.

Who can afford him? PSG are in the shit. City aren't even being considered. The gooners would never spend that much. Liverpool are spending elsewhere. United have spunked too much over the past couple of years so they'd struggle too. Bayern don't buy players that cost as much as Bale would.

Hazard to Madrid. That's the key to this. Hazard to Madrid, Bale to Chelsea :D

I absolutely can't see it happening but fuck it, honestly, just how many clubs could seriously contemplate signing him? Not many at all.
There, that should set the cat amongst the SC pigeons :playful:

Personally, I think that over the next few days Ronaldo will announce he's off and Bale will stay at Madrid to be top dog.
