Laporte to City
Mkhitaryan and it looks like Aubameyang and Evans to Arsenal
VVD to Liverpool
Sanchez to United
Dzeko and Emerson to Chelsea

No pressure, transfer committee :nailbiting:

Genuine question, why would they feel any pressure at all?

Because all our rivals are taking measures to address the weaknesses in their squads, and as yet we have done nothing to address ours. And we need to finish above at least 2 of our rivals.
Some of those are self created ...

When have Spurs ever genuinely gotten the cheque book out in the Jan. Transfer window?

The fact we are in 5th and amongst it with three big league games coming up is more a sign of how well we are doing. The fact they are having to spend in Jan. might tell you more about them.

I don't think we need to at all. It's not going to be the end of the club if we don't get top 4 this season. Most on here were expecting a poor season due to Wembley. No idea why that's changed now.

Great news considering they were linked with Toby.
I really wouldn’t put it past City to come back in for Toby end of the season regardless of who they buy now. Especially if Toby still hasn’t signed a new contract. Also Laporte is left footed and tends to play on the left side apposed to Toby who plays on the right. I could very much see Pepe wanting to pair the two.

Hopefully that ship has sailed now the ITK's have hinted that he may have now signed.

Personally I think we'll announce a few new contracts after the window closes. This should pacify those not happy at us not spending.

God I hope Aubameyang doesn't go to Arsenal. Not necessarily because he'll solve their problems, but the fans would absolutely lose their shit.

Giroud's Mrs holding up the deal now?

No Dortmund keep rejecting arsenals bids. They know they are desperate so will hold them to ransom. Good on them. Hope they get fleeced or Wenger shits the bed

When we were in relegation trouble we dropped an absolute fortune in January. But even discounting that, even if we hadn't done it before, doesn't mean we shouldn't now. We are in a ridiculously important battle for top 4, going into the new stadium in the Europa League is not part of the master plan.

I don't agree with your assessment that we should look at how well we're doing. With NWHL on the horizon, now is the time to be bold, not to pat ourselves on the back and criticise others for their signings.

Problem is that it is much easier to buy players of the quality and position required when you are in a relegation battle compared to our current position.

So basically you disagree with the transfer policy that's existed for how long?

I'm happy to look at how well we're doing, and I also think it reflects on those around us having to spend big again. IMHO if this is what we're doing now then in regards to transfers then future is bright.

Indeed, but I don't believe that means we can't sign players in this window. We have never been richer compared to clubs in other leagues.

Have a look at the prices going around for players, the summer is bad enough when PL teams are charged a higher rate because of the money awash in this league, January is even worse when it comes to transfers, no point over-spending on players just because others are doing it.

Which part of our transfer policy am I disagreeing with? I'm saying nothing is perfect and everything can be improved. Just saying 'we've done pretty well by not signing players in Jan, so we will continue not to' doesn't strike me as a progressive position. Particularly given the aggressive ambition of our direct rivals.

One (very likely) injury to Dembele and we're looking at a Dier / Wanyama CM or a Dier / Sissoko CM for season defining matches. Even without an injury, he can't play all these games coming up anyway. So we're praying Harry Winks shakes off this injury and blossoms overnight into a top class CM ready to drive this team in 3 competitions.

We need a central midfield player urgently and I don't think it's beyond the wit and power of the club to sign one.
