....below the mighty Spurs!

My housemate is a season ticket holder at west ham and he's been banging on recently about how we haven't been above them in the league for two seasons.

After today's results, it's all but impossible for them to finish above us. They'd need a huge win against Boro to achieve it. The added bonus is that their little europa league dream is also over. I really do dislike that club.

All in all a good day!

COYS!

Dont they have to win by 3 goals or summin and need us to loose for them to finish above us? I really hope we finish above the pub team from Dagenham.

I have no real problem with the club itself. It's a) their fans and b) their stupid fucking Lego Castle ground I can't stand.

I love beating the Whammers because I know so many mouth-breathers who support them. And today counts as beating West Ham in my book, and I'll be rubbing it in accordingly.

Even if they won 3-0, and we lost 3-0, we'd still be ahead of them on goals scored. Basically, they need to make up the 6 goal GD, by scoring at least 4 in the process. I dont want to temp fate, but it isn't going to happen.

You're right actually, their fans are a particularly low life bunch and their ground is quite frankly ridiculous. As a club though, you have to admire how well the've done with absolutely no money, terrible injuries and quite a poor first team.

That said though, it doesn't make them any less irritating, like one of those disgusting little house flies that land on dog turd, eat some, sick it back up, eat some more and then go and land on your dinner and do the same. You just wanna squash the little bastards.

i like their tradition of playing good football and having a good academy, but their supporters are embarrassingly bitter. i don't know why they think of themselves as our rivals because i hate chelsea and ars*nal far more and west ham can do whatever they want.

West Ham's 'rivalry' is a glorified inferiority complex. Charlton and Milwall are closer to them than Spurs, yet they see us as their main rivals. Because they don't actually have anything to brag about they make the rivalry with us the main 'thing' about them.

"So, what have West Ham won?" asks a football virgin.
"Not much, but... BUT... our main rival is Spurs who have won loads of things", dribbles the West Ham fan.
"So why are you rivals with Spurs?" asks the football virgin, as realization of West Ham's status in the footballing world begins to dawn.
"Because... they... they..." mumbles the West Ham fan, his face screwed up with the pain of having to employ a second brain cell.
"Yes?"
"Wear white?" the West Ham fan lamely utters, the second brain cell having been called into duty elsewhere.

Well let's be fair as they did win the world cup (or so is their claim to fame...)

Exactly. That's the thing that always makes me laugh most. When you ask a West Ham fan what they've win, the first thing they say is the World Cup. Do me a favour!

I didn't even know they finished above us last season. I think that tells you everything you need to know about us and West Ham.

Really? He is thick as shit then.

2006
A memorable year! With the likes of Aaron Lennon and Michael Dawson coming to the fore, we held on to fourth place for most of the 2005-06 season until defeat at West Ham on the final day. However, our aim to return to Europe was achieved and we returned to UEFA Cup action at the start of the 2006-07 season. Four of our players went to the World Cup with England with Jermain Defoe and Dawson on stand-by and just missing out. Going into the 2006-07 season, we signed Bulgarian hitman Dimitar Berbatov, Ivory Coast midfielder Didier Zokora, left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto from Lens, Pascal Chimbonda from Wigan and Steed Malbranque from Fulham. Michael Carrick moved to Manchester United.

2007
We matched our exploits of 2005-06 with a fifth-placed league finish in 2006-07 and reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup. Going into the 2007-08 season, new arrivals included Gareth Bale and Darren Bent but following a poor start, Martin Jol was asked to stand down alongside coach Chris Hughton. Highly-rated Juande Ramos was appointed Head Coach with coaching assistants Marcos Alvarez and former Spur Gus Poyet.
The year marked our 125 anniversary.

2008
A magnificent start to the year saw us first beat Arsenal 5-1 and then topple Chelsea 2-1 to lift the League Cup at Wembley Stadium. We finished the league campaign in 11th place.

Last season, yes. They finished one place and two points above us. The season before? Not a chance, unless they broke the Top 4 which no one knew about?

Fucking West ham fans, ****s. :duh:

To be fair, I think he was including this season too, presuming that they'd finish above us, when they clearly won't.

Knowing what West Ham fans are like, that wouldn't surprise me as they have nothing else of achievement to worth harping on about. How they can be proud off that, is beyond me.

I just mention the fact we had 2 points from 8 games. The worst start anyone has had since the Titanic sunk, and yet we're still in front of them. Losers.

they haven't even improved this season, despite our craptastic start, pompey and blackburn's plunges down the table, and man city's mediocrity - granted they've had terrible injuries, but they were midtable last season and they'll still be midtable this season with no cup runs to speak of, and they didn't even win their 2 'cup finals'. zola's done a fine job given their injuries and off-pitch nightmare, but nowhere near as well as hodgson.

yet the spammers on 606 are claiming they'll challenge for top 6/7 next season since supposedly they'll have fewer injuries and zola is brilliant. now i know everyone on 606 is a moron, but that's just ridiculous - everton and villa are in the best positions for 5th and 6th given their strong squads and class managers, man city can buy their way into the top 6 with infinite money, i would expect us to challenge if our summer is good, and fulham will continue to be up there under hodgson. and they have the nerve to call us delusional!

case in point (off 606):

To sum up, we have the core of a top 6 club now and all it needs is completing, and I, for one have no doubt it will be
Let's build on the good work and foundations that have now been established and push forward with the real potential to achieve something, maybe even next season. There is a great deal to feel optimistic about, and not with those usual rose-tinted glasses, but with real belief that this West Ham set-up can become a serious challenger for top a 6 place and some good Cup runs.
With what we have (that is without any additions) plus a couple more signings, we can and should easily compete for those top 6 slots. The top 4 I would say must still be a work in progress and that could take 3 or 4 years but, it doesn't mean we can't make those positions. We can.

I know I sound a bit optimistic and that I think we could be 4th, 5th, 6th etc. But if we keep improving with a great manager who is still inexperience and learning. We could be looking very, very high. We still have to look at present, and we are 9th in the table and still needs lots of work to be done. Maybe next season Europa league, the season after that 6th, the season after that 4th or 5th.

There are Villa fans out there who are worried about making top 6 next year, and the Spammers think they're top 6 material?! Top four in the next few years?!
