League South match with Derby County at Leyton Orient FC.
The Brazilian international has played two First Team games since signing from Hertha Berlin in January, scoring one goal.

He is joined in Clive Allen’s squad by defender Ricardo Rocha, who is making his comeback after a groin problem.

Also returning from injury tonight are young professionals Tommy Forecast, Dorian Dervite, Danny Rose, Jacques Maghoma and Simon Dawkins.

The squad also includes no less than eight players from our Academy.

Full squad:
Forecast, Jansson, Gilberto, Smith, Dervite, Rocha, Archibald-Henville, Mtandari, Rose, Maghoma, Kasim, Hutchins, Dawkins, Obika, Fraser-Allen, Mason

OS.

A pretty decent-looking squad there I'd say. Hopefully Dervite and Rose will start - always good to see them play. And I will get to find out who 'Smith' is!

Thanks for reminding me about the game BOF, was contemplating what to do tonight and if I could suffer watching another boring England friendly. Looking forward to seeing Rose play in particular. Will be good to watch Rocha play another game also, thought he had a decent game against Villa in the last home match.

One of my shorter reports....

What a totally dreadful game. The first save made was in the first minute of added time when Derby 'keeper Kean came out to block an effort from Rose, so that should give you an idea. That was after Derby captain Miles Addison was sent off for a dreadful two-footed challenge on Jacques Maghoma. Addison came off the pitch smiling, didn't seem bothered.

A lot of the responsibility must be with Clive Allen. He started with three CBs, Archibald Henville, Dervite and Rocha, and tried to play Adam Smith and Gilberto as wing backs. But they just didn't get forward enough. Next he went to a flat back four with Smith pushed up to midfield and A-H at right back.

Dervite came off at half time, as did Maghoma, and Sam Cox and Jon Obika came on. Cox did well as a defensive CM in front of A-H and Rocha, with Smith at RB. Smith didn't do much; no forward runs and crosses of note.

Obika was pulled down and converted the penalty, but really, we never got to grips with exploiting the one-man advantage. Derby were a well-drilled outfit, with their no. 8 Matt Richards very busy and vocal in midfield.

Fulham at home next Monday; let's hope for something better then.

It was forecast Dervite would play only one half since he was back from injury and had only 1 normal training session. He performed his duty in a very dense defense during a boring game...

Yea I was expecting Dervitte to be knocking on the door this season, especially with our CB crisis, shame about the injury.

Dervite was the best of our three CBs. I was surprised how ordinary Rocha and Gilberto looked at this level. But Dervite was always looking to make long passes. His team mates have faith in him, because when he gets the ball, they make runs, like Fraser-Allen (LM in first half) and Danny Rose. And they're not just long hoofs upfield, but considered diagonals. I have high hopes for him.

I spoke to him afterwards and his knee is on the mend but seems like there's a bit of a way to go yet.

Paxton was passed on to nicdic (see thread in Chat) and went to the States with nicdic's Dad.

cheers for info BOF - i've only ever been to one ressie game - but amazingly that day (we clinched the lge that evening) we played the likes of Hudd Murphy and a few other 'first teamers'

however I'd be very reluctant to judge people on occasional reserve showings - I wonder for example what a football genius like Berbs would make of it - would he go out there and make a lot of people look silly, or would he be sensible and think this ain't worth getting injured for or would he simply have a massive sulk and get 'injured' after 2 minutes -

whereas you could imagine another genius like Gazza getting right stuck in scoring 3 goals and having a fight with a YTS lad for a laugh

PS not much of a chat reader so didn't catch that news re Paxton :)
