A player should have some say in who he plays for.

Younes Kaboul articulated his thoughts in the great tradition of Eric Cantona:

Kaboul could have been a Sunderland player when Spurs decided to sell up and described the moments when he turned down a move to Wearside 17 months ago.

And it is not often you hear a footballer say this: “The reason I did not come here was because of Daniel Levy who runs Spurs. He wanted to treat us like a cow. I said to him look I have a personality and a mind of my own, I am not a dog.

“He told me I have a flight for you all with Malbranque, Tainio and Chimbonda. He said you are going to Sunderland, I said: “No, I go where I want, not where you want me to go. “Look, Sunderland are a decent club but I do not like people imposing anything one. Like you are a dog or something like that.”

No, they shouldn't. For the brief time they are footballers they are nothing but commodities to be exchanged at the clubs whim and they are richly rewarded for their servitude!

I have to say I much prefer Kaboul's "I am not a cow".

I believe he added "Or a dog". :)

I wonder which animal gets treated worst: dog or cow?! I must admit I didn't read Kabouls quote before but that is classic: "I am not a cow! I am a free man!!!"

Not that serious. Must admit, for the amount of money they get paid per week... For that, I'd take it from levy with no lube! Saying that, not sure I would want to go to Sunderland either!

He's got great individual skills, but I'm not sure he gets how to play in a team, when he can't simply dribble around opposing defenders. He'd probably be decent for a club like Sevilla, but I wonder if we couldn't get more money from a big Mexican club.

Dont get the anyone who is well paid is a serf bit. They are giving their labour and are getting paid to do so, just likebillions of us, the only difference is most of them get [top tier], get hughly rewarded for something they enjoy [bit of jelousy here].

I trump you 'bit of jealousy' with a 'whole load of jealousy' - I would swap with them in a heartbeat hehe.

I'm not sure we'd want to loan him anywhere. I don't think Swansea will pay. So I'm going to guess no, I don't think he'll end up at Swansea.

No more loans (even with an option to buy)....needs to be sold now

however, Archibald has said he may sign a contract extension at some point this summer to ensure a transfer much like what Jenas has done. If he does this then I could see him getting a loan with a view to permanent transfer.

I actually think that could be a very good move for him and maybe even us to a certain extent

I think he'd do well for them too. They knock the ball about on the floor and he'd almost certainly get the ball played into him in interesting positions. Swansea need a few more attacking options although their priority is to try and get Caulker back and then find a striker.

Its the last year of his contract http://arxiu.fcbarcelona.cat/web/english/noticies/futbol/temporada07-08/06/n080606104518.html so think Levy will ony permit it if he cannot sell him (ie wait until the end of the season Swansea). Besides which Gio has always been holding out for a move back to Spain........so Swansea ?

Shame Villareal were relegated for both Gio and us I guess (assuming they were prepared to pay a fee to partly/wholly recover his cost)

Udinese offered us 10m last season, so how did we pay 3m in wages to him? There is no way he's on 75k per week.
