i dunno what bent has to do for people to realise how good he is. Some of the great Spurs forwards, Archibald, Crooks, Allen, Lineker never had the creative ability of a Keane or Berbatov. They were as erractic as Defoe. Bent is a forward, give him a chance and he'll score 1 in 2 let alone 1 in 3.

Problem has been the supply line to him, which seems to be working now. Feed the Bender and he will score

Bent has been doing much better since we started playing one up front.

He has never really played well with a strike partner which is worrying, but hopefully him and Pav will click.

If there's anything he needs to improve on, Bent needs to learn how to hold the play up better.

Keep the good work up Darren! (he's just had a 3rd goal disallowed for offside )

The man's on fire, how on earth are we gonna have Bent, Pavlyuchenko and Modric all starting, cos they need to. Modric left wing

we simply won't I'd say.

We still have a vulnerable defence so playing 2 up front with Modric in midfield would hardly make us any better defensively!

Bent is average and we have paid over the odds for him.

He gets goals - but not important ones. He isn't someone we could base our game around. He would score goals given chances, but at 16.5m you would expect someone who could play on his own AND create chances. The problem is he fails both.

Strikers such as Berba are great because they create and score consistently. Keane is a good striker because he at least could play on his own.

Bent can't so he doesn't live up to the standards we require, which is for a top 4/5 league finish.

not often i do this ...but that post is bollocks -define important goals....againts arsenal? liverpool? .
.almost all bents career goals have come from playing alone upfront. at ipswich and charton he was the sole frontman. hatfulls of match winners against superior teams
9 goals this season almost all from leading the line alone.
sure he is not a creator but if he was hed be worth £32m !

Thing is though we didn't. We paid for the most expensive coat in our history and all we received is the buttons and one sleeve.

Bent cost the same as Berbatov and Defoe put together.

You will never get an argument from me regarding Defoe's limitations. But he is less limited than Bent. They are both shit in the air but at least Defoe can control the ball, move with it and shoot with both feet.

So far Bent has scored two nutmegs when 1 v1 (both landing fortuitously at his feet - kicking it straight at the keeper both times), one penalty, one he knew nothing about, and one spilled by Almunia. Far be it from me to look these gift horses in the mouth, but sooner or later he's (we) going to need more.

I keep banging on about this SS but football has changed. All over the pitch players need to be more skillfull and technically better than ever before. None more so than the striker.

Bent may score but we as a team need to create more. Bent is not condusive to that.

It's not Bent's fault he's what he is but I'd take the lathargic flouncing Berbatov or faggoty tackle hopping Keane over Bent anyday.

Unfair comparison you cry, but not when his cloth cost us the most.
3 goals tonight. 9 goals this season!
Really, he must do better:duh:
Who created the winner against the top team in the country?
