give credit where it's due chaps , Gomes was absolute class tonight, if he had fumbled that chance late on it would have been a draw or possibly given the spam the belief to go on and win it. Gomes never put a foot wrong all night. One debateable punch out but the rest was class. Well done back four, in fact well done team! COYS

He didn't have much to do tonight which can often be the downfall of even the best keepers, but really top saves at the end to win us the game.

Harry has told him to stay put at set pieces for the time being (so it seems) and concentrate on the basics of keeping. This has served him well imo and even tho he came for a couple of crosses, he dealt with them competently.

Well done boys, that was a difficult away game that they ground a win from. Just what we need to progress our season. No fancy dan tactics just yet which is what I like. Another striker please tho cos Pav looked so alone in the 1st half that didn't help him.

Overall tho, i'm so so so so pleased. Screw the Hammers!!!

Yes Gomes was excellent tonight, didn't put a foot wrong IMO and to go and score the 2nd seconds after that double save will give him even more confidence as he was part of that goal.

Let's hope he gets better and better and we see the man we know he can be, one of the best keepers out there.

I can't even see how people can call that punch 'debatable'. It's hard to determine the speed of a ball when it's being whipped in at you like that, it's easiest just to get a couple of fists on it, and get it away. Which was what he did, and did it well. Congratulations, Mr. Gomes. I'm starting to see glimpses of why we spent so much money on you.

will take more than tonight to win the media around

Who cares about the media? If we keep getting results and he doesn't make any Fulham & Udinese-esque mistakes (which were pretty much some of the worst I've seen and very unlucky to happen so close to one another) then they'll find someone else to pick on.

Gomes will become yesterdays news soon enough, the Sunderland and Blackburn fiascos will be enough to fill their petty little columns for now

He wasnt man of the match by any stretch of my imaginination, could it be,its just an illusion.

But one thing i will say,his transformation in the past few weeks reminds me of the time when Adam,Prince of Eternia, pulled out his sword and turned into He-man.

thats just me though.

The presenter on Setanta said before the game that Gomes has made more catches than anyone else in the league.

Shit sticks. People will always keep on at him regardless of how well he is playing.

He always seems so happy when we score, and when we win. Seems really passionate and has the right attitude i love to see in a player

Agreed, he was on his game tonight. Seems as though Tony Parks might be steering him back in the right direction (and 'Arry as well of course!)

Talented goalkeeper, proved it at PSV and in the Champions league. Just a matter of confidence. Also helps when Leadly and Woody play together and we absoloutely dominate the match passing brilliantly and restricting their attacking opportunities as we did. Great team performance, very solid from the defence, about time too. Midfield work tremendously hard and passed the ball fantastically. Thought Pav had a fairly poor game but Massive performances from:Gomes,King,Woody,Lennon(AGAIN!!!). Great goal by Jamie aswell.

Very happy right now. Long time since we've gone away from home, won+kept a clean sheet and dominated so much by playing very nice passing football. :) Long may it continue. And with the players we have hopefully it can.

His bad form coincided with the time he had a rib injury (and a smack in the head). Full respect to Parkes though. Did we even have a GK coach before last week or was he sacked with Ramos and co?!? You could see Gomes was thinking about whether to come for crosses or not tonight instead of trying to claim absolutely everything.

As ever, it took about 3 minutes for my commentator to prattle on about Gomes' shaky start to the season. The media just love to fan the flames in the hope that they are proved right. Well done Heurelho for another good display tonight. Hopefully, as i have stuck with you thru' thick and thin so far, you'll continue like that for the rest of the season. It was, I suppose, quite intentional (ie already thought up) albeit ironic that when Green made an error, the commentator described it as "Gomes-esque". I am sure that he would have have blamed Heurelho for it if he could.

I think even through his bad times he was doing well, just made some really basic and costly errors that stood out a lot more than the great saves.

Now he has recovered from injury, has Harry's backing, and a chant from the crowd, I think he is feeling much better and confident, and maybe Tony Parks has done a little work with him. Of course one mistake and he will get slated by some, but I think he will show his quality
