Seems an odd thing to get from a heavy landing. Wonder if something went when he jumped? That might account for the lame punch.

I think it went before that poor punch. If you watch the highlights you can see him limping after the previous time he had the ball.

I think we should play it safe if its a bad injury and sign James. When Gomes returns we can sell Cudicini in January and have Gomes and James as our 2 keepers. If its only a few weeks, then Cudicini will be fine. The trouble with Cudicini though is his height. He always worries me from set pieces. As long as we dont have him in goal against Stoke and Bolton we should be ok.

From what Harry was saying it didn't seem too promising. Groin/Thigh muscle tear. We all know how much spin Harry puts on things, but TBH Gomes really didn't look too healthy when he came off.

Yup - if it's bad then expect Harry to go straight for James. No one else around that I can think of at the moment & Pompey probably still need money. If we don't get someone & lost Carlo as well or he plays like gash then it's Jansson and er...

No doubt if we didn't have Cudicini his name would be high on the list of "emergency" keepers we should get so I don't see too many problems ahead.

Is it not worth taking a punt on Jansson? If Carlo stays fit/suspension free while Gomes is injured then it won't matter anyway... It seems no more of a risk to have Jansson on the bench for a few weeks than to have 2 goalkeepers who would expect to be first choice and shift Cudicini to 3rd choice and potentially disrupt the squad...

Hope he gets better soon but you have to wonder how much of a downgrade (if any) Carlo really is.

I mean do Spurs fans massively overrate Gomes? He looks shaky to say the least. Cost us a peno against Pool and that punch was comical last night.

I think he's got the attributes of a top keeper and can pull off some tremendous saves but he seems to have zero concentration and makes bad decisions.

He's looked extremely shakey in the first 2 games, so not too upset about Carlo being in net for a bit.

Do we really need to rush out and buy another decent Premiership keeper for a few weeks cover? Injuries are rare to keepers as well. If we are unlucky enough to have Cudicini injured, isn't that what the youth teams are for? We already have a massive squad for a club in our position. I thought Alnwick did quite well against United and in his other games for us. We can recall the loan.

Agreed and Jansson looked good last year in pre season. Can't go out and buy another keeper just in case your backup gets injured

I agree, give Jansson some bench experience.

Everytime I read about the Under 18's tournament games last year there was always something about him pulling off great saves.

It will probably depend on the length of Gomes injury. If it is more long term then maybe think about bringing in soem cover, if only 2/3 weeks out then give Jansson the nod!

Jansson is good and old enough to sit on the bench, hope we don't get anyone else in.
If Cudicini get injured as well then we can loan a more experienced option,
transfer deadlines does not matter for goalkeepers - if a club needs one they are always allowed to bring one in.

ffs. That was Cudicini's first appearence for us wasn't it? give him a break. He's a proven keeper and you want to sell him?

It's not as if he's made half the mistakes Gomes has with us.

It's a thigh strain and not a tear so i wouldn't say he will be out for very long. Cudicini is as good a back up keeper as there is in the EPL

No. He's a decent keeper and all i'm saying is, if Gomes is out for a while i think we could pick James up pretty cheaply. Then sell Cudicini or maybe even James in January. But Cudicini hasn't looked too good, especially from set pieces. He's a decent number 2 and if Gomes is only out for a few weeks then everything is fine. But if Gomes is out for a few months then i can see us going for James, who i rate higher than Cudicini.

Well Cudicini is not flash, but I rater him over James who is still a calamity, as shown by losing his team the game last night.

could be bristol city's adriano basso who is a good solid keeper. Theyve put him up for grabs on loan as he is refusing to sign a new contract.

And kendall I love your John Sitton quote, absolutely genius

"You can pair up if you like, and you can bring someone else to help you out, and you can bring your fucking dinner"

brilliant.
