i was at the game. he was brilliant. terrible distribution landed us in trouble a couple of times but a few great saves and also brilliant catching of crosses. balls that i would expect him to punch out he was grabbing. really good overall

Although not football related, Gomes is also the nicest guy in the world, which makes me suppor him that little bit more-he signed loads of autographs during the warm up and was interacting with the fans throughout the first half-he clearly just loves what he does and sees part of his job as pleasing the fans, something that i have an immense amount of respect for. Ability-wise, he is about a billion times better than Cudicini anyway, but even if they were fairly similar, i would always lean towards Gomes due to his personality.

On a side note, the rest of the players are utter wankers. Coming off the coach, they signed cumulatively less than 5 autographs with only Keane and Lennon stopping, whilst at the end of the game, the players didnt come within 40 yards of the fans. Quite frankly, its an absolute disgrace and means i have absolutely no shame in laying into players like Bentley and Jenas when they mess up-they have the opportunity on a daily/weekly basis to please the fans by showing a little bit of humanity and interacting with the supporters, but in truth they couldnt give a toss, and if thats going to be their attitude when we make 500 odd mile round trips on a Wednesday night to go and watch them, i dont think they deserve anything BUT than being slated when they under-peform.

Adam,

Are you intentionally trying to come across as a total tosser lately? There have been a few threads where I have read what you have written and just assumed you were on the wind up. There is a chance that I am wrong and you have become a total moron, but you never seemed the sort.

No, im not on the wind up, i just always feel so disheartened by the way the players treat travelling fans (assuming thats what you're reffering to). I personally dont feel that its that difficult to make the fans feel like the players appreciate their efforts, and if you see teams like Chelsea, who pretty much always go right up the their fans and hand over their shirts, i find it the way that our players conduct themselves to be pretty disgraceful really. Is that so unbelievable?

To be honest I thought the wind up part was picking out Jenas and Bentley in a Gomes thread. I thought you were picking them out just because they can do no right on here, or for Spurs for that matter, yet they could both get into better teams than us (well in the squads anyway).

I picked those two players out for that exact reason-they at best divide opinions between fans but are two of the least pro-active in terms of interacting with supporters on match day. What i was suggesting was that if they showed a bit more appreciation towards supporters (as Gomes does, to keep on topic of the thread) then they would certainly get less flak when they misplace a pass/dont sprint back to defend. At the moment, im sure that many fans feel that if the players dont give a shit about them, why should they be unconditionally loyal/supporting of a player regardless of his performance.

Now I understand. Your probably correct too- Robinsons whole getting the crowd chanting thing in Europe certainly make him more popular, even though his form was really shit, and I think most of us have fond memories of him even though he became fucking terrible *brings thread neatly back to keepers*.
