Are you serious? De Gea gets it all the time, from all angles. No way has he had an easy ride
In a different manner though. With De Gea it's presented as young, talented keeper, making errors but still developing and will go on to iron them out and be brilliant. With Gomes they may as well have played the circus theme music over the top of their 'analysis'.

Aye but that's because he's very young and Gomes… well, isn't. But I'm vaguely playing devil's advocate, I do agree, they used to ridicule Gomes even when he was playing well. Much like they kept doing to Ekotto, as they chose to wilfully ignore his rise to one of the best left-backs in the league

Precisely. Good parallel. It was also notable from both those examples that plenty of people on online Spurs forums appear to take their 'opinions' direct from Salford.

Surely Southampton is the obvious destination for Hero, all 3 of their keepers have been awful this season. South American manager, well off enough to pay him decent wages

Wherever he ends up I wish him the best of luck, I still have a soft spot for the guy. I was hoping AVB would resurrect the octopus' until we bagged Hugo

Actually, Boruc was great last night. I think Soton solved their problem. Fulham's gonna need new keeper and that's were I'm placing my bets. But i'd be really happy if we can sell Gomes finally.

Shit keeper, don't see why some have a soft spot for him. He had once in a generation type of howlers. Wonder who's going to waste money on this clown.

EUROPEAN UPDATE
Interesting, very interesting. The German transfer window has now closed, and there are a few, er, interesting names on the DFL's list of players that can be signed (see 10:50 GMT), says Raphael Honigstein.
"Heurelho Gomes' name is on it - so the 32-year-old's move from Spurs to TSG Hoffenheim 1899 seems on. This is bad news for current keeper Tim Wiese. The former Werder no.1 was talking about playing in the Champions League before signing for TSG in the summer. Now there's a good chance he won't be playing at all.

Good move for him - think he'll do pretty well there.

Don't know about other people but I'll remember him fondly. Despite his clangers he had an uncanny ability to pull off some awesome saves. Wish him well

Personally... I loved him! Loved to see him out there, always a smile on his face. He is one of those that enjoys the game. Really hope he does well in germany.

All the best to him there...

Dale Johnson:
A video of Gomes' biggest mistakes is already circulating on German football sites. German football magazine 11 Freunde commented: "They called him railway gate... We don't know how TSG scouted that keeper. But one thing seems certain, video analysis was not included."

So is he not out of contract this month then? I don't remember reading about Levy taking up one of those extra 1 year extentions he sometimes does.
