It remains to be seen how Pep would perform at a smaller club. Look at Klopp for instance. Im not saying Klopp will fail, but nobody can turn water into wine that isnt called Poch.

Pep will suceed at City because they have the biggest budget and he has the biggest reputation. Wouldnt be suprised to see messi join him.
Messi would never leave Barca. Too much of a risk aside from anything else - what if he actually can't do it in stoke on a cold Tuesday night in February?

I agree that he's by no means guaranteed success, that's true of every manger arriving at a new club, and Pep's no different. What is true however is that Pep is the sought after manager in the world. His record at Barca and the style of football they played was spectacular, they are the best football team i've seen in my lifetime, and I know many who would say the same. What he's achieved at Bayern is less impressive, of course, the Bundesliga is in danger of becoming the Scottish league, with Bayern/Celtic walking the league every year and no other club able to offer a sustained challenge to their supremacy. With being the case the only way Pep can really excel at Bayern is to win the CL, something he's so far failed to do.

I wonder how much of Barcelona was down to Puyol, Mascherano, Iniesta, Xavi, Messi.

They've got loads of money, but I'm really not sure the players currently there fit his tactics, especially the midfield.

Agree, I dont think their midfield is technically profficient to play his football. Silva and Aguero yes. Sterling, the fernandos, Toure etc no

If Jose goes to Utd then the Manchester derby is going to become incredibly boring. Parking the bus vs. passing for the sake of it.

Amazing manager, best structured club, unlimited money. Can attract more or less any player. V smart deals they've done with China, the team in New York, all to enable Man City to circumvent FFP and give them a ridiculous advantage.

A lot to wade through but highlights so far ...

Oh Jesus get fecked, feck this day. It's the hope that kills you.

We are like a solitary old decaying office building beside a brand new executive business park with hip bars and good looking people

No worries we'll sign a noodle partnership today.

Just shows that our club is being run by complete clowns and are/were more interested in 'tradition' and the 'United way'. There's no reason why we shouldn't be the club announcing the best coach on the planet being set to join, instead we're stuck with Van Gaal.
Our timing of every important decision has been completely fecked since Fergie hand-picked his fellow Scot mate.
If we don't get Mourinho tied up as soon as possible for next season then we can forget about winning anything any time soon. We need to reach some sort of settlement with Van Gaal, sack him, shoot him - do whatever it takes to get Mourinho on board.
I never thought I'd see United decline in this manor, whilst City make gigantic strides forward. Makes me physically sick.

Imagine having stuff to look forward to

Will be interesting to see the team he builds, he'll definitely want shot of some players in the squad (Yaya and Nasri for sure) and he's got a lot of talent there to work with already. My guess is he'll want someone like Thiago immediately to fill the CM playmaker role and maybe another skilful wing forward.

Charlie Nichols is already saying Shitty could get Iniesta, like Barca would willingly sell one of the best midfielders on the planet.

*edit* Ugh, it's even worse, Holloway is acting like Bayern are the only team on the planet that do pressing and win the ball back quickly. Pulling some 4 second stat from out of his behind.
