You can be a regular without playing every single game you know.

Yes I know. Thanks for stating the obvious while also not answering the question.

Hawaii is the only state of the US with the Union Jack still on it's flag you know.

Oh sorry I didn't think I'd need to state the obvious twice.

His positions are LB & RB, so I'm gonna stick my neck out and say he'll play either or both of those positions on a number of occasions next year.

Height isn't that important as long as you're good in the air and, above all, a good defender. Cannavaro is very small for a centre back (5' 9" or 1.76m) and has been consistently among the top five or so centre backs in the world for the past decade. That said, I've never heard of Gunter being used as a centre back, I imagine he does so for Wales' kids because it doesn't make sense playing one of your only decent players in the least important position on the pitch.

What are the odds of Hutton and Lennon playing on the right, with Gunter and Bale down the left I wonder. Youthful.

I wonder if having Bale and Gunter in our squad might help us tempt Ramsay. Apparently both Utd and Liverpool are interested, but how many players have gone from the lower leagues into their teams in recent years?

ive been thinking the same! Surprisingly as he is young & British I havent heard of us linked with him! Also if he was to go to top four team I dont see him for next few seasons getting in any of there midfields on regular basis!

ive been thinking the same! Surprisingly as he is young & British I havent heard of us linked with him! Also if he was to go to top four team I dont see him for next few seasons getting in any of there midfields on regular basis!

Gunter gave an interview to sky today about Ramsay:
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11675_3614460,00.html

"Aaron has a decision to make but whichever club he goes to, he is going to improve and at his age that is what he needs to do," said fellow teenager Gunter, who joined Spurs in the January transfer window.

"In terms of the young players I have worked with, he is the best I have seen and if he was at Spurs he would be very close to the first team.
"If he does make the move to the Premier League I do not think it will be long before he is playing week in and week out, because he is the sort of player who is capable of achieving anything he wants to."

Gunter feels that Ramsey possesses a number of qualities that will serve him well at the top level.

He explained: "He may not be the quickest of players but he has great awareness, he never loses the ball and he always tends to make the right decisions, which at his age is amazing.

"He is a quiet lad and a little bit shy but he does not let himself get carried away by anything and very little fazes him.

"He made his Cardiff debut when he was still at school and I am sure if he steps up next season he will be a great success."

I just wonder whether Gunter has been trying to convince him to join Spurs.

Without doubt Joey. In fact, CG is probably running a tab paid for by Spurs to reel the lad in. Ramos has given him a company chequebook.

It's called a Union Flag.

Seemingly intelligent Briton's not knowing the real name of their own flag really bloody annoys me! It's only called a Union Jack when flying on the mast of a boat. So rep to you for knowing your British trivia.

Also Hawaii is the only US state ever to have the British union flag embedded in its own which was in thanks for defending them against the Spanish. Which is different to saying 'Hawaii is the only state of the US with the Union Jack still on it's flag' which implies other states did have the union flag on theirs.

how old is Gunter btw?

He's only a year older than Ramsey, Gunter being born 89 and Ramsey 90 I believe... He seems a very mature lad, and if he continues to progress and with his seemingly (now with the Flynn comment and all) ability to play across the back will certainly feature a bit in our first team next season.

If you're going to be critical, then make sure your post is infallible. No need for an apostrophe here...

Toshack had a bit of a pop over Gunters move to us in his press conference yesterday, which i thought was strange as when Gunter moved to us Toshack said it was a good move for him. I saw his full debut for us away to Reading where he did well at LB, and i reckon he will get a lot more first team action next season.

It was a bit of a pop, but from Toshack's perspective, I understand him wanting Wales' best youngsters to be playing first-team football.

Toshack said:
"We have had examples in our squad of young lads who have got into our side and set new records as Wales internationals, and then got themselves big-money moves to Premier League clubs.
"The likes of David Cotterill, Lewin Nyatanga, Gareth Bale and Chris Gunter have all gone into Premier League clubs very young. But it has not always helped us. Cotterill barely got a game at Wigan, Gunter has been outstanding for us but has moved to Spurs and is not getting the amount of football we had hoped he would.
"But if Ramsey does get a move to a higher division, however good he is, it is in our interests that he goes out on loan so he can play regularly. If not then a step up becomes difficult for youngsters."
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...oss-Toshacks-fear-Cardiffs-Ramsey-United.html

The Bale example is clearly rubbish. If he hadn't got a really bad injury, he'd have played 40 or 50 times for us this season. Whereas Gunter was unlucky in that he's a natural RB and we spent £8-9 million on Hutton, who stayed fit all season, so Gunter didn't get much game time.

I actually agree with Toshack that if outstanding youngsters aren't going to make an EPL first-team 16 (or 18 next season), then they should be getting experience out on loan.
