Harry doesn't want to spend big on a striker

This is the impression we're getting from various ITK's that Harry has been unsure about our targets and isn't convinced they are worth spending big money on.

My theory is this, Harry knows we won't be finishing above Chelsea or City this season, or at least he knows it is highly unlikely. The one legitimate, watertight excuse he will have at the end of the season for missing out on top 4 will be 'how can you compete with Chelsea and City blah blah blah'. He's already said it more than once this season and he does have a point, but if we were to spend £20m on Suarez or Rossi and still not get top 4 that excuse would no longer wash and he'd have to accept share of the blame for us falling short, something he's never been to keen to do in the past.

i dont see why he cares about spending £30m on a striker, he will be gone in a year

So you're saying Harry doesn't want better players in case we fail and he then has an excuse?

What's the point in even putting a team out then?

The various "ITKs" saying this are talking utter tripe. They're complete muppets, most copying each other's posts and riding on the back of anyone that does have info and gives it(witness the latest muppetry from "Mystery" last night. When I questioned his assertion that Pav was starting today, he replied he'd just looked at a website with that info, but couldn't remember which one! Yeah, try looking at your recent browsing history, or invent better stories, son).

I seem to remember when Pompey collapsed, that a wave of accusations pointed at Harry for spending all their money on transfers and wages. The likeliness that he has now adopted the completely opposite approach is slim to none. Fans just want to bitch and find blame.

The ITKs(actual ones) I trust, like Roger Morgan, have passed on that bids of around £25m have been placed for Llorente and Carroll. That is very sizeable considering they are nearly £10m above our record fee.

Managers don't publicly accept blame when they've lost. It's always the referee, linesman, cynical opposition etc that is the answer. Wenger, Ferguson - they never say "We lost because I picked the wrong team" or "I got my tactics completely wrong. I feel a total fool". They intimate such things in games they were losing and then came back to win, Ferguson's last 2 games being prime examples.

exactly what i think he's doing. the less money he spends, the less blame can be attributed to him when we miss out on the top 4.

I can understand the hesitation about sending the money talked about in the media on a striker, it's a gamble now that we've shown our hand, every target we go for now will be putting up the prices.
