Nah, it starts this season.
Where have you seen this? Everything i find says from the start of 24/25 season.

"The expanded format will coming into effect for the 2024/25 season but UEFA has taken steps to advise teams on the new qualification rules in advance. From 2024 onwards each league will be able to send a maximum of five teams to the group stages of the Champions League."

Its never really been about the money for me.

I mean, that helps in some form of rebuild and you MAY be able to get some quality players.

But, for me, it has mostly been about preventing him from moving to United or City or Newcastle...

That is by far the worst case scenario......and I am not even sure the gamble is worth it.

IF and it really is a big IF we can get him tied to even the shorter contract that will at least be a happy medium for now.

Unpopular opinion but I'd be lying if I said I didn't think this was a mistake. I'm not sure what it is that we can realistically achieve this season that gets him to commit, not even sure top four (which I don't think we'll get) would do it. As nice as it is to have him for a little longer, in the long-term it'll hurt like hell if he leaves and doesn't go abroad, not sure that trade-off is worth it but we'll see.
More than worth it.
I've seen comments this morning from people who don't usually get the chance to go to games and yet got to see HK live yesterday and were even more blown away by him. I'd probably got used to it by seeing him so often but it made me stop and think. At every home game next season i want to see the best players possible. And the fact we have HK is something to be cherished and enjoyed for as long as possible. Nobody can predict the future so we enjoy what we can, when we can. Otherwise what is the point.

The best option for Kane is to simply leave on a free next year, from a logical pov. Once you bring the emotions into it, I understand the hesitation. This really is a difficult decision for someone who loves the club.

Yep. Ever since he didnt move to Man City I said that is the best course of action for him personally. It's why I have found this flirtation with Bayern so damn weird and also why I found the over reaction from a lot of posters to some passed on information over the weekend so amusing.

Bayern basically did every wrong in trying to sign a player from us. Every move they made so far has been simply how not to do it. Dont undermine the club or Levy, dont antagonise the club, Levy or the fans by talking about the player publicly and most important of all, dont make offers which arent at the level Levy sees fit.

They may be back with another bid but yesterday probably showed Levy what this season could be like with Kane in the team. As a chairman how could you sell your star striker after that?

Haha, people running around the thread like they've just snorted a couple of lines. Seeing as every story and even the slightest event gets taken as fact, It won't be long before the downer hits :D

I can’t see Levy turning the bid down without assurances Kane is very interested in signing a new deal.

I wonder what the USA trip was really about.

Holiday. He goes this time of year virtually every year. Have a search back and you'll find loads of people complaining about him going on holiday during previous transfer windows (probably me included).

Yep, as i understand it, the accumulation of the qualifying co-efficient points starts this season (and we have a lot of teams in europe - thanks Spammers) so it should lead to an extra space for season 24/25. (taken up by the 5th place team THIS season)

I think the Bayern imposed deadline was false and confirmed by the more reliable journos for them.

I think it was pretty obvious there was never a deadline. Their problem always has been that they dont want to pay what he is worth to us. Just like Man City 2 years ago.

I understand that argument completely but equally we had him last year, he scored 30 goals matching his best ever goal tally for us, and we all hated every single second of it. A team is more than the sum of its parts and while great players play a part in that, the best football I've seen at Tottenham in my lifetime came after Ginola, Carrick, Modric, Bale, Berbatov and others.

Next season will be fun to watch because of Ange and the other great players in the squad and that will be true whether Kane is here or not. Liverpool lost Gerrard and went up several levels because of Klopp, we can do the same if we had the right regime making good decisions (we don't but that's another conversation entirely).

Just told my 7 year old that Levy has told Bayern to do one. I thought he would shout with joy/excitement

He actually replied with ''probably the only good thing Levy has done all season''

I think i've indoctrinated him almost too well.....

I bet they phrased it as a deadline (we need this accepted by x otherwise we have to move on). They are used to getting their way so probably do it all the time. Remains to be seen if they were bluffing.
