Greaves also lost 10 weeks to jaundice in the 65/66 season which probably cost him his World Cup place - but the rest is history of course.
The worry is that our cover for any injury to Kane is not adequate and I'm not saying we will ever have a like for like replacement, but we need someone more effective and mobile than the lumbering Llorente

Yes, sincere apologies for the faux pas.

No need to apologise. Wasn't intentional fella (y) only brought up in jest.

My worry is now Swansea have appointed a new manager, are we going to get the new manager bounce that we seem to face after every sacking. Swansea are dogtods though so a couple of quid on a Kane hat-trick might be worth it

This season and then from next season we'll be at least doubling our match day revenue. Forget the cost of building the stadium as whatever we are required to pay off each year will be covered by the stadium sponsorship and NFL money.
With this massive jump in match day revenue which will be there in the bank to use it is completely unacceptable to suggest we cannot afford to pay someone like Harry Kane whatever we need to.

You can bet your bottom dollar that they won't be as pathetic as they were against either of City or Liverpool though.

Yeah as far as a legacy goes, players that stay with one club can live off it for the rest of their lives even if they win nothing. In a weird way they seem more respected than glory hunters. Look at someone like Mark Noble not even played for England but will be well respected when he hangs up boots seen a loyal honest player probably have a successful media career and loved in West Ham for rest of life. How will Bale be viewed? Yes a great player but unless he comes back to us no life long affiliation. Yes great memories but who will he have to share those memories with apart from his family ?

I suspect a whole load of the players will be getting new contracts.

Twice today different presenters on talksport have mentioned bench warmers at clubs (Arsenal and West Ham) as earning more than Kane like it's a disgrace. I would more question why players who are not first team regulars are on more than 100K per week!

All about the media narrative. We all know with the performance incentives built into his contract he'll be earning well in excess of what you hear quoted in the media.

I honestly think that we have to reward Kane in line with some of the top earners in the league.

Selling Kane to another team in this league and we all might as well all pack up and go home.

We're living the dream with this guy, a Spurs boy to boot, and to even contemplate selling him to someone like City or United would make any fans stomach turn. It would truly rip the sole out of football imo.

Nobody is suggesting we start going mad paying all our key players ridiculous sums considering the outlay involved with the new stadium.

But Kane is very, very different. It goes beyond just rewarding his remarkable ability, but it represents a huge marker for the Club with the footballing world watching on.

This guy deserves the premium rate, and I really hope that's what we give him as that will do our talking for us, and on the brink of moving into a new stadium it would be a serious show of strength from Levy imo.

People keep saying that top players are only remembered for the trophies they win, but that is plainly not true.

How many trophies did Alan Shearer win?

Who has the greater reputation, George Best or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer? - And yes, I bet you can't spell his name without looking it up either!

Gazza won fuck all. Paul Merson won a hatful. Who was the better player?

Yes, we want Harry to win all the titles in the world with us. But that is not, in the end, how he will be judged except by a few Leicester fans and other jealous, bitter opponents who are just desperate to find ways to undermine him.

But I do agree that all the while that we don't win titles, we run the risk of losing him, even though maybe it shouldn't work that way.

So get on with it Spurs and win some shit so we can have the best of all worlds!

Got to say that Ray Wilkins was on the money when he said that Kane should be offered a ten year contract worth 150 million. Sounds ridiculous on the face of it but is 15 million a year so crazy for a player of his quality?

We won't get a better backup than Son. Play Lamela with Alli and Eriksen in the three behind and it could be quite successful.

Does anyone know the greatest number of goals scored by an individual at the turn of the year, or a site offering useful enough filters for me to retrieve the answer myself?

I can't imagine many have beaten Harry's 18, if at all.
