I agree with you. People obsess about his weekly wage but the fact that he is likely on a generous bonus for hitting certain targets is rarely mentioned; presumably because it doesn't fit in with the narrative that players at Spurs are on lower wages relative to the clubs around them (like they were forced to sign contracts in the first place) and won't stay happy for very long. Guaranteed, if he does sign a new contract worth 300K per week, the media will change tack and start banging on about how he will leave soon if he doesn't win a trophy. If we do win a trophy then they will start banging on about how he will leave if we don't consistently win trophies and if we consistently win trophies then they will bang on about how he will be itching to have a go at playing for one of Europe's top clubs.With the new stadium and records to break, not even a question he is leaving in the next couple of years.
And I’ve no doubt Levy and Lewis will take care of him money wise.
