I feel they believe they were already over-paying so doubt they will increase (also have shareholders to appease unlike us). Probably still all comes down to HK's reaction to DL's new offers (the timing of which seems odd but also very mind-fucking - bravo DL!) and DL's ultimate position in whether he still keeps him for final year or takes the money.
They wont get a better striker than Kane and he looks after himself they saw with Lewandowski if a player looks after himself he can easily play till hes 34-35 if not longer at a very high level.

Hes worth every penny

You start believing that you have come to grips with Harry leaving and then you hear the news we rejected the bid and get a feeling of excitement greater than that of a new signing. I am giddy right now. Hopefully Bayern back out now.

Hopefully that turns into a direct instruction to take the cups seriously (not that I think it's needed as Ange will want to smash every game)
Im optimisitic about the season I think we are still light at CB even with VDV but its the most balanced/depth squad weve had ina long time

I know that and you know that. But for some reason, I am not sure that feeling translates everywhere. For some reason (perhaps its playing for us) people still under-rate him. The press in Germany have already done hit jobs on his ability so you can imagine some twitchy CEO, worrying for his job if it goes wrong.

Offer Harry the earth (financially) and try and swing a ECL spot this season, then win that next year
The money is a bonus for him. Bring in at least one world class center back and a second outstanding one. No chance of him leaving under those circumstances. let's hope Levy's trip was about accessing the cash required to do so.

Unpopular opinion but I'd be lying if I said I didn't think this was a mistake. I'm not sure what it is that we can realistically achieve this season that gets him to commit, not even sure top four (which I don't think we'll get) would do it. As nice as it is to have him for a little longer, in the long-term it'll hurt like hell if he leaves and doesn't go abroad, not sure that trade-off is worth it but we'll see.

We will get another CB. It just won't be a Silva or Topsoba IMO.
But given the choice I'd take Kane + VDV + Tosin than Any other striker + VDV + Topsoaba/Silva.

I know we all love to give Levy shit, but he has balls of steel. His decision making is questionable at times, but I don't think he's put a foot wrong regarding the Kane situation this Summer.
'cept we wouldn't be in this mess with Kane not wanting to continue on if Levy had backed high performance and a balanced squad of suitable players for each position... Kane would be convinced and would have signed ages ago... Levy just likes brinkmanship... but the problem is his own creation.

Sell now, get in decent players with the money, start the rebuild now. Dont need another saga again. Time to move on now personally.

He is going to want a medal, top four is not a medal. A huge contract offer from us and say we won the FA cup and finished top 4. Then I would say maybe he might stay if the football was really improving. But i’m sure he would want to compare where we are at with the offers he then gets at the end of the season. But that’s still a scenario where he is at the end of his contract.

*Edit top 5 as someone has pointed out.
