*cough* Juande Ramos *cough* !!!

Seriously though, I like AVB but I'm not entirely sure he suited to the Prem. Allegedly he pours over tactics, stats, and numbers of all sorts.....almost lives and breathes that stuff. Perhaps one of the drawbacks of this is the ability to be a bit more personal or human, to put an arm round a shoulder when its most needed.

He reminds me a lot of Ramos in that respect. Tactics are obviously very important no matter where the football is played but there's no doubt the English game is very different to that of Spain or Portugal. They have shared a similar path as well, coming from relative obscurity to leading a team to success in a very short period of time, moving to the Premiership and getting sacked shortly thereafter. His fairly hefty reputation has now led him to manage FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk following a whopping 47 days in charge of CSKA Moscow before getting sacked.

Of course I'm not saying AVB is anything like Ramos, merely pointing out the parallels. Those, of course, can be tempered by the fact that he now has some Premiership managerial experience as well as his time under Mourinho. Like I said I do like him and wouldn't be disappointed if he became our manager, and I certainly would like a younger manager to replace Harry as part of a much longer term vision.

Yeah AVB is much younger as well, and of course he had an excellent command of the English language....unlike a certain Senior Ramos ;)

Very true!! Fuck only knows how Ramos is managing to communicate with his players these days.......I would imagine his grasp of Ukranian is even worse than his English!!!!!

edit: do they actually speak Ukranian in The Ukraine, or do they just speak Russian???

Watching an AVB interview makes me want to pull my eyes out, he was always complaining and he waffled on talking shit for ages hardly anything he said made sense I'm not surprised the players lost faith.

The Chelsea job was never going to be easy but we got a glimpse of the man up close and should perhaps take what we now know as a warning. All the promising young managers out there come with risk (Rodgers/Lambert etc) I just feel based on what we've seen that AVB comes with the biggest.

And lastly (and this is just a personal preference) I really don't want to see that prancing prat leaping up and down on the touchline like a camp jack in the box thanks very much.

Rodgers>>>>AVB if we're entertaining H replacements in the future, for mine.

My two pennies worth, from a sports journo, probably nothing new but whatever,

Levy seriously pissed off with Redknapp, after the England thing raised it's head frequently only came in to training 1 or 2 days a week. Levy blames hims totally for the loss of form which Redknapp accepts. At the moment could go either way in terms of Levy sacking him or not.

My thoughts on that. If Redknapp seriously did only come in a couple of days a week I think he would had been long gone by now so not entirely sure I believe a word of it.

I'm inclined to agree, Rodgers has much more class it seems. I lost a lot of respect for AVB with his playing the victim (like Dalglish) and apparently terrible man-management.

Still unsure what Rodgers has done to get so much acclaim. Hell, I'd say Lambert was better last year.

What's to stop Rodgers being the next Owen Coyle?

He'd have gone by now, considering if these rumours have any truth. Redknapp has cost Levy the best side of £40m in his failure to land CL.

in Redknapp's defence, he has always said a top 4 finish is the clubs objective, which he achieved, but this year's unique circumstances have well and truely fucked us over.

You need to read about Rodgers to understand his approach to the game, the study and learning he has done and the experience he has gained off his own back in order for him to become a good manager. Then it's about how well he would fit in with the Spurs philosophy and way of doing things.

Owen Coyle, despite being notably older hasn't got half the knowledge and quality of experience as Rodgers.

I doubt Levy would be keen on sacking Redknapp due to the cost implication, much better to force him into searching out and joining a new club, for which Spurs save on the sacking compensation and potentially get compensation money from the club he's joining too.

I can only see Redknapp leaving Spurs for Chelsea or Liverpool. Both are extremely unlikely, so he'll hold fire until he is either sacked or his contract expires at the end of the season. the danger with the latter, is that everyone knows he ain't going to be he in 12 months and we then have a repeat of the final 1/3 of this season.

and I'm sure that objective changed when we were 10 points clear in third place and Chelsea kept advancing in the CL....

What fucked us was our inability to finish third when it was virtually handed to us on a plate.

I'm not so sure, a think a massive paycheck would tempt him too, especially if he thinks that he might get the boot from Levy.

I disagree BS, because if he is that motivated by money, and he thinks that Levy is gonna sack him (which I still do not think Levy will do), then surely he would wait to be sacked and get the compo aswell as getting the big bucks from a new employer, moreso because the new employer will not have to for out compo, meanig Harry may be able to command more.

Anyway, I don't think for a minute that Harry is going.

I couldn't agree more re AVB, I don't think he is ready for the pressure cooker situations. As well as his risky tactics he seemed to demand respect before actually earning it. Do you remember all that 'you must celebrate with me' nonsense when they scored? I don't know if any of it was true but do we need a similar episode like that happening at the Lane?

Not only that but he seems like a spoilt brat, all the doors have been opened to him at a very early age, ego stroked and nurtured to be fast tracked to top. Which I have no problem with, it's just he doesn't seem to be very grounded and has a high opinion of himself. Hence the reason why he went on endless rants and complaining without any thought.

He's the football equivalent of Jamie Oliver, posh, opinionated, know it all, never really had to struggle in life for anything and very very fortunate.

If he learns a few lessons in humility and takes the hard knocks on the chin then maybe he'll be ready, just not yet.

a few people have been saying that. But if you were his boss wouldn't you have called him up and said why aren't you in work? It makes you wonder he must be doing something right in training though doesn't it

If it happens it's AVB for me, I strongly believe he would e fantastic for a club who support and that includes the playing staff. He woul build up a team and we could be a force for years. He knows how to win trophies and championships! He does seem intelligent regardless of what happened and the whole experience will have taught him a great deal at Chelsea. It is there for the taking, I'm surprised Liverpool haven't gone down that route?
