Haunting Swansea singing

Watched the game 2am here in oz after the New Year came in. Through the sound system with head phones on the noise was unbelievable. Told the wife how good it sounded and she laughed saying "Sounds a bit cliched talking about good Welsh singing".
The Hymns and Arias/ Land of my fathers song in particular was so haunting / sad. What do the fans who went think?

Yeah, i was mightily impressed by their fans, the singing was absolutely superb, and pretty non-stop as well. Perhaps it could've been a little more cheerful, but at some points it must be quite intimidating to visiting players.

Watched it here too. The catalyst for me was the Spurs away support who, once again, went into a very loud rendition of 'Oh when the Spurs' and must have had the Taffs saying 'Bollox to this, we aren't getting outsung on Welsh soil by a bunch of Londoners.' Thereafter they just kept singing to drown our boys out, which they did really.

I have watched Swansea with interest this season and, unlike other managers like Coppell and Holloway who, I believe, flatter to deceive, Rogers appears to me to be the real deal judging by the style of Football they play. They're not just huff and puff, he has a definite grasp of tactics and insists on Footballers playing 'The Beautiful Game'.

One to ponder is that if he can get a team of journeymen playing Football that's good enough to match, and better, some of the best teams in the EPL, what would he be able to do with the type of quality we have at our disposal.
I can remember these types of questions being asked about Aitch from back in his Wet Spam days.

If, God forbid, we were to lose HR, I would hope that BR is at least given some serious consideration when replacement is contemplated.

Was also impressed with Swansea and their fans, who put to shame the likes of Arsenal's. If I had to be honest, they deserved to win the game.

Hopefully Swansea stay up (preferably with Stoke going in the other direction, though I guess the latter won't happen). Nice to see teams playing good football in front of good fans. Presumably they are even better with Caulker playing :)

I know I live in Wales but that has nothing to do with giving credit where it's due and Swansea were a match for us and most certainly deserved their equaliser. They could quite easily have won the game so I have to be satisfied with a point from this one.

When we drop points, I'd prefer us to do it playing a good team who play well and with no nasty controversial decisions.

I heard the interview with Cliff Jones who was in Swansea visiting relatives and at the game and he, understandably, said he had to sit on the fence with divided loyalties. I'm sure he felt the draw was a good result.

For a promoted team to concede just 4 goals at home this season is impressive. If they got some serious fire power up front, they will be a force to be reckoned with.

As many nutters in London and the South, perhaps more per capita - just a different kind of looniness.

Just about every town and even small villages here have their own choir and rugby team. We have a local choir and opera society here and it's a small town with less than 20,000 people living in it.

I was next to them, and their singing was very good, though the anti English abuse was OTT. They sang more about that than their team.

Calm down, calm down...soft lad Eek

As Cos will probably remember, I lived in West Wales for, but prior to that I spent a bit of time in North wales - which is really strange because the whole North Coast is like an extended suburb of LiverScousePool with fields in between, and every pub you go into is a designate Liverpool or Everton pub where you are asked which one you support when you first go in Eek
Also say Neville 'Mad Nev' Southall's gaff.

With all of this accumulated experience, I can confirm that the Welsh are indeed loons

There like that every game even more so this season as every game is a cup final they never expected to get promoted

They are an extremely average side. They have just been promoted and are enjoying themselves and have no pressure to do anything bar play their game. I fully expect them to die towards the 2nd half of the season, if they dont end up in the championship next season I fully expect them to the season after.

I would say that they were the loudest fans I have heard as a visiting fan! Good variety of songs too. Well done Jacks.

Quiet impressed with the Liberty Stadium too - nice ground with minimum queues for the bar

As for the anti English singing I dont recall that much apart from 'engerlund is full of shit' and there was quite a lot of attempted sheepshaggers chants around me. All part of games between English and Welsh teams and having been to many Newport County games over the years I've heard much worse. All of which was pretty pointless anyway as there were loads of Welsh Spurs in the away end! In fact the only Welsh flag in the whole ground I saw was an Aberdare Spurs one!
