Rafa Benitez himself (at a Madrid Reds end of season party I was at - hes really close with them), players includin SG and JC and a close friend of Carras and two other ITKs with 100% records (They all post on my forum and were all mates).

I hope this all covers the questions I was asked in the Twitter thread but if not just let me know.

Cheers. Not that I doubt what you're saying happened, but Benitez saying he was effectively undermined to a bunch of Liverpool fans at a Liverpool fans' party is hardly the most objective of sources.

Ask yourself why did he dismantle it? Do you believe he wanted to dismantle it? Do you think he really wanted those new players as his first choice? He didn't have the luxury of these things in the last 2 seasons.

Toela, what I was getting at is that Benitez was and still is very popular with Liverpool fans, and I get the impression Rick Parry was not. So if he was to tell a fan that he had the chance to sign a 16 year old Messi for peanuts but Parry wouldn't let him, they'd be inclined to believe him, whether it was true or not, or exaggerated to look favourable upon Benitez. Like if Martin Jol told one of the many Jolite Spurs fans that he'd arranged to sign Sneijder from Ajax for £5m but Comolli prevented it, they'd take sides with Jol.
