I'm not going to start a religious debate on here. I only came back to clarify my misinterpreted posts, but of course the clarifications have been misinterpreted some more by those who want me to come across as evil regardless of what I actually say.

I for one do not find any hint of you being "evil" at all m8.

But I do understand those who object to being "pestered" by someone knocking at your door (for example) on a Sunday afternoon, or stopping you in the street trying to "sell" religion to you.

I know where the nearest church is, if I am inclined to go, I will. If not, then I won't.

Nobody is trying to make you come across as evil. You have stated that you believe homosexuality to be a 'sin' and are hiding your personal beliefs behind ancient scripture, an ancient scripture that contains all sorts of rules that you wouldn't dream of adhering to.

So please, if you insist on your belief that many lovely, charming and harmless people are commiting a 'sin', at least be honest enough to admit that this is your own deduction and not some rule forced upon you by an ancient text.

It's not about arrogance at all. I was lucky enough to be born into a Christian family and they showed me the gospel and I chose to be saved. I didn't say I was better than anyone else only that I was fortunate to have heard the gospel whereas others may not have. Christians jobs are to try and spread the news, to get other people to hear it so that they might too be saved.

Let's put it this way. If you found out that in a week your town was about to blow up, would you simply drive out yourself, or would you try and warn everyone? Would it make you arrogant or better than others just because you heard the news first? Of course not, you're just the message bringer. And of course, people will think your crazy when you tell them, but you have to try right? You can't just let them stay and die. And when they say they don't believe you the first time, you would surely try again until they did leave town right?

As for why not 'save' everybody - of course! That's the plan. We don't pick and choose who we like.

And from what, precisely, did you choose to be saved?

This is a truly fatuous analogy.

Some Christian groups such as Quakers and Unitarians have announced they are more than happy to carry out same-sex marriages. In your view, this must surely mean they are not 'proper' Christians.

I think it is sad that people should feel the urge to be like this. It just shows that travel does not necessarily broaden your mind. If you disagree with it, fine. Just politely and respectfully stfu and allow people to peacefully get on with their lives without bigotry and moral handbagging please.

I don't actually think you are evil at all. i think you have your belief and you have every right to your belief, and I would never deny you your right to that.

Can I ask you to do one thing though. Take how you are feeling now, feeling like you are being misunderstood, people on your back for what you are and not who you are, possibly persecuted because of it , possibly frustrated and remember those feelings because that is how I feel when I see comments from Kezman, when I read about gay teeneagers being beaten, painted and having bottle of pee poured over them by anti gay skin heads in Russia. Remember thse feelings when you read those teenagers dies and despite their being pictures of the culprits online the police don't arrest them, they don't even condone them because the person killed was 'only a gay'. That is why when I see people saying Kezman is only voicing his opinions, when they try to save me that I get angry. Obviously you aren't like the skinheads in Russia and obviously you aren't saying we are diseased like Kezman, but by defending his words you are allowing yourself to be seen as one of them. Is that what you want?

I have no time for you. You're clearly looking for an argument and I've resisted your comments but this is just a heads up so maybe you'll save yourself the effort and stop replying to me all the time. Having seen your profile you clearly like to have debates with several different religious people across loads of threads, so why not stay there and not try and provoke another one. I'm sure you'll have your say on this too mind.

I blame WeAreTheParkLane for this :D He put this under 'general football'. I purposefully avoid the 'debate' and to an extent 'chat' sections of this forum, and clearly shouldn't have dared to wander into here

Didn't read Kezman's comments but I'm just interested to know if he thought the 'disease' could be cured by cold baths and vigourous exercise - a bit like ice baths after a hard game of footy.

To be honest, this is the kind of thing that turned me away from Christianity a long time ago. I was born and raised a Catholic and as I grew up I took a strong dislike to many opinions expressed by the Catholic church, and I still do.

Kezman is allowed to have his opinion, of course, but to call homosexuality a disease is just plain wrong. I've got enough experience with family and friends to know that it isn't a disease, a degredation, a "corruption of the soul", or even a choice. It's merely a state of being, and one that people shouldn't be persecuted for.

The way I see it, even if you don't agree or particularly like the idea of homosexuality, why not just let it be? The only thing that comments like Kezman's produce is hatred and loathing towards fellow human beings. I just can't understand why people like to go through their lives hating on other people because of their sexuality/colour/creed etc.

As for the "walking away from Christ comment". Well, religion just confuses me. On one hand it'll tell people to practice love, understanding and forgiveness, whilst on the other hand condemn people for doing exactly that. Jesus was meant to be a loving guy. He hung out with sinners and told others not to judge, but a lot of Christians seems to forget that. The Ghandi quote comes to mind here. "I like your Christ, but I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." I often think that if Jesus was as real as he's made out to be and was dropped onto the Earth right now, he'd be very ashamed at the way certain religious institutions are going about their business.

No, he was pretty adamant that his two step Christian based method of doing blow off hookers tits and not paying his debts would cure them.

What a plum.

And Lufti seems a bit of a tool too. Deleted his posts as well so can't even dislike them... :(

Out of interest, what was your aim when making this thread? To have everyone agree with you and say, yes, how shameful? I came up with a secondary viewpoint and am ridiculed for it. If that's how your threads work then I'll remember to avoid them in future

I'm not going to repeat what so any other posters have already put, and put much more eloquently than I will ever manage.

Your opinions are in the same bracket as racism, fascism, sexism and all other forms of prejudice. This freedom of speech idea really falls down when views like yours are included. The fact you do not respond to some very valid posts speaks volumes for me. As you see, every one of your posts has been shot to pieces.

Please do avoid my threads in the future, please also avoid all intelligent discussion post 1980. Homophobia is the disease.

What you mean is, you have no response based on fact or reality. You're the worst kind of 'Christian'—sanctimonious and quite appallingly ignorant.

What I mean is, I've given my view. I've had about 5 replies to each comment I've made demanding answers to this and that and I didn't come here looking for a religious debate nor will I spend hours of my life engaging in one.

You won't spend hours of your life debating the very thing that determines many of your views? How very odd.
