Reading some ITK saying there'll be no more big signings in the future and then this thread among others , I'd caution that it is possible to go too far in this 'Academy players only now' scenario .

The sprinkling of youth players coming through have done very well , but there have been significant contributions from foreign signings such as Lloris, Jan, Eriksen , Chadli etc etc to our recent upsurge .

The boneheaded 90s Sugar dictum , made just as the Prem became transformed by foreign imports , ' No more Carlos Kickaballs'
should not be reinstated , it set us back years . Its a blend we require and its important not to get too carried away and imagine a team full of Academy players can take us to the heights .
Keep in mind, though, that the four players you mention all cost around £10m, and none of them gets in our top ten most expensive transfers list. So they're not really big money signings, and I think we'll see more deals like that in the years to come.

Funnily, it was a post from a Gooner in the "what our opponents fans are saying" thread that summed this up perfectly for me and is what got me thinking about it more.

Essentially he was giving off that his beloved team of worldies was undone by Kane, Mason, and Bentaleb. As you say, to have three home grown talents in a match day squad so early in their career for a game of that calibre is almost unheard of. And to think they paid £43m for Ozil.
You could also say "to think we spent nearly £60m on Lamela and Soldado". I think Daniel Levy learned a lot from that window.

I like that Baldini is signing players for the academy.

His signings of Yahaya, Azzaoui and Lazar in the summer went completely under the radar, but his track record suggests he knows what to look for in terms of potential superstars.

Although, of course, not all of these players will make it to Spurs 1st team - or any other EPL side for that sake - these are the players who right now are the most likely candidates to make the grade (and some of them will make it)...

GK Voss, Glover, Whiteman

RB Walker-Peters
CB Ball, Carter-Vickers, Ogilivie,Tanganga, Maghoma
LB Brown

DM Veljkovic, Amos, Lesniak
OM Pritchard, Sonupe, Onomah, Edwards, Winks, Yahaya, Cy Goddard, Miller, Nya Kirby

RWF
CF Oduwa, Kazaiah Sterling, Coulthirst
LFW Georgiou, Bennetts, Azzaoui, Oakley-Boothe, McEvoy

PS! I do know that several of these players can play in various positions

Phantom signing I believe.

This a list of our best or players you think will make it for us?

It was a round up list of the players more likely to make it - but not all of them will make it of course.

So he doesnt exist? Or it just never happened?

Don't know. I have spoken to 2 people within the club who are invovled at the youth level and neither had even heard of him. Stranger still @spurs9 posted that the team with which he made his debut in the Romanian league, which made him the 2nd youngest player doesn't exist anymore. So who knows what happened?

Potential wise Harrison and Sonupe look to have more potential than Coulthirst atm.

You may be right. I did include Sonope in the list though and could easily have included Harrison as well. Then again, maybe Coulthirst can do a Kane  It is allowed to hope ...

Is it possible that Maghoma may not have seen him because he was training/playing at the younger level or do you think hw would know pretty much everyone form a certain level up?
Who was the other person you spoke to within the club?

He's on UEFA's page from last season- seems he got 2 sub appearances for them. There's also a picture of him in a Spurs kit IIRC.

They paid £45m for Ozil but also have brought through or brought in when young the likes of Gibbs, Walcott, Ramsey, Wilshere, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Chambers, Joel Campbell etc.

A bit different to us though, Gibbs and Wilshere I agree but the rest cost the best part of £50m and already had first team experience at other clubs, our ones being talked about here either came through our academy or were potential long term prospects bought to come through the youth teams first.
