How long is he out for anyway?

the main problem is if Pav is injured now, we will be fucked!

Out for the season, broken foot. Only reason Robbie has come in. Unfortunately, the two of them don't get on, and can't play together and Harry doesn't rate Bent.

It is strange as we sold him because we had Keane ahead of him. Crazy times at the lane.

I would have prefered Kanoute to return. We need some more heading ability for sure. Not another nice little player.

As far as I'm aware 3 weeks was spin from the club to make finding a striker slightly easier. Broken foot and out for the season. Gives Keane from now til the end of season to cement his place and force Defoe back out of the club.

Ridiculous.

Is Defoe this evening??

Meh. Collectively, our strikers performed rather well in the face of this 'problem' last time round. He talks up his confidence all the time, so he'll just have to show the world why he likes himself so much. And Harry seems rather disposed towards him, that can't hurt his chances of getting plenty of opportunities.

We now have 4 top strikers, all of whom I rate. The one I rate the least is Defoe.

Our players leaving in the summer will be interesting!

Never really rated Defoe and was gutted when we re-signed him as thought it meant no way back for Keano

Fortunately this didn't turn out to be the case and for me (personal opinion) Keano should always start over Defoe as he's just loads better basically.

Bent for sure I reckon. Quite probably also Bentley, JJ and THudd unless they all start playing much better. Hutton also likely to go if Harry rates Chimbo higher.

I hope no more first team squad players go, the outcasts (Gilberto, Rocha, Taarabt etc.) will hopefully also go.

He may be a little pissed off, understandably.

But this is not about Defoe, it's about Spurs, and if Jd is a true pro, he will work his nuts off, and put the ball in the back of the net as much as possible.

Keane/Defoe/Pavs/Bent

Lovely stuff.

More gutted we got Keane back over Defoe, Defoe was the type of player we needed as Modric plays up in the gap Keane used to be in, can just see it causing some problems if keane goes back to dropping off Pay/bent up frount.

Well, too bad. It's a shame the only place Defoe will be scoring for the immediately foreseeable future is the typing pool, but what other realistic alternatives were there? Rocket Roque?

One of our best performances in recent years at Arsenal in 2006 was with Defoe and Keane upfront. When we signed Defoe in 2004 we scored 12 goals in 3 games. I know in some games they looked very ineffective but I do think, especially with someone like Modric, they could play upfront together.

How pissed would Defoe be if he had signed for a team who was playing Championship football next season.

Once again Defoe will get his chance he deserves the spot in front of Keane and it is down to who wants it more and Keane got it last time.

Keane offers a lot more than Defoe. JD tends to have tunnel vision and is head down and shoot.

Spot on if we had a player like Modric who can actually feed a ball into the strikers a few years back they probably could of made a very good partnership. You don't have to have a little and large combination upfront to make it work as Tevez and Rooney proved last season, you just have to be two intelligent footballers who have a player of the class of Carrick who can pick a pass and supply them the service needed and hopefully Modric can be that.
