I don't hate Arsenal at all. I quite like them. They have great players, they play great football, Henry played for them. What's not to like? The only meaning that the rivalry has for me is that when we play them, it's a HUGE game that I desperately want to win.

I'm a bit fed up of hearing about how much people hate Arsenal. Why do you take it so seriously, and why do you seem to take it so bloody pesonally? We didn't go to war with them, we weren't enslaved by them. And I'm fed up of having to stand up at games when people sing "Stand up if you hate Arsenal". I'm not standing up because I hate Arsenal, I'm standing up because I won't be able to see the game if I don't.

Ultimately I watch Spurs and football generally because I love football. I'm not interested in injuring or insulting someone because they don't follow my team.

GAY !!!!

only kidding.
articulate post and a point well put ...i guess it boils down to the inate tribalism within us all ..its just a stronger instinct in some of us .

hating another team more than you love your own makes me think of a saying ........
the israelies say that when the palastinians love their c hildren more than they hate the jews ...all the problems will end

spurs to finish 3rd - not even remotely a difficult choice

if you made it us 3rd and AFC winning the double it still wouldn't be a remotely difficult choice

I really am not that bovvered by AFC -

in fact I dislike West Ham more than them

now us 3rd and that lot of non-achievers doing the double and I'd start hesitating ;-)
Luckily there's about as much as that as me winning the lottery, a Nobel Prize and the Grand National all in the same year, so I ain't too bothered, and we even have a realistic chance of finishing 3rd :)

I dislike arsenal with an intensity, but what really riles me is that some people hate arsenal more then they love tottenham........

So I really couldn't be arsed what arsenal do, as long as we beat them in all our games against them........but for me Tottenham all the way!!

I'd take Arsenal being relegated over us winning the PL, let alone coming third.

If you pick the 2nd option, you have a twisted outlook on life. You're pretty much saying you derive more pleasure from other people's pain then pleasure from your own success, or in this case your own team's success.

I highlighted the text of the first bit of the first option and clicked the button of the second option: thus my answer is Spurs finishing 3rd and Arsenal finishing bottom.

I would have thought that was obvious.

Repped for easily the best post in the thread. And the bravest.

I've managed to support Spurs for years without hating anyone, and in any given match I want the result to be the best one for Spurs, regardless of who's playing. Tribalism is inherent in us all, but it's overrated.

In fact I think we should form a group of people who aren't at all tribal, then we can gang up on those who are. I hate them so mu.. no, wait ...

Relagation for the Scum would be so fantastic. We are used to having a bad season here and there and we have bouncebackability! I strongly would love to see Scum V Leeds in the old 2nd or 3rd division. lol

But if they got relegated they'd bounce staright up as champions and everyone would cream about "what talent!" and how they were too good.
That would piss me off, plus it's not as though we'd be in Europe or able to attract decent players.
Half our good ones would be thinking we were shit, they'd move, we'd get relegated, I'd get depressed and start drinking, my missus would leave me, I'd lose my job and house, then kill myself... so on the balance of things I'd go for us to get 3rd place!

Must admit Villa are one of the teams that piss me off. Think it goes back a few years when they seemed to be our bogey team, but weren't really all that great either. So it was a case of how are these lucky bastards doing it to us every time!!!

On a seperate note dislike West Ham and Newcastle (with a bit of Man City thrown in) for their attempts to throw money around in the hope of success.

You have to love it that we've done reasonably well over the past few years while still making profit and not racking up huge debt. Come on the recession that puts those 3 into administration, I'd love it!!!!

I can't stand people who are SOOO bitter and Negative and who prefer Scum to fail rather than Yid success....or so it seems!
I, for one, appreciate good football (even from the Scum) and I consider myself to be MAN enough to applaud those who deserve to be applauded! I want THFC to win ahead of ANYTHING but I wioll not loose sleep should Scum be one place behind us at Seasons end! As long as we get the extra prize money that CL Qualification brings (not from a financial aspect but from a N11 aspect).
Doubles count for NOTHING after '61....so we are safe in that knowledge at least. WE did it...Scum did not. MY Dong is bigger....and MY wife plays a better Ball Game ...and whatever you want to say! We are a better and more historically deserving of GREATNESS...so I can sleep with that in my heart and mind each cold mid Table night....COYS!

How about these scenarios...

a) Arsenal get relegated and stay down for 3 seasons, during which time we consistently qualify for UEFA.

b) Arsenal become our 6 point team for 3 seasons, failing to score in that time and never conceding less than 2. We still qualify for UEFA each season, missing out on the CL, but Arsenal never manage to finish above us.
