Well when I see anyone in town wearing a Scum jersey I automatically think "Wanker"

I guess that's pretty bad. :)

If you pick the 2nd option, you have a twisted outlook on life. You're pretty much saying you derive more pleasure from other people's pain then pleasure from your own success, or in this case your own team's success.

Yeah... I should probably see a shrink... it's all hypothesis, but I think seeing interviews with AW after every defeat would really lighten up my life.....

At least the first option is more likely....

How about these scenarios...

b) Arsenal become our 6 point team for 3 seasons, failing to score in that time and never conceding less than 2. We still qualify for UEFA each season, missing out on the CL, but Arsenal never manage to finish above us.

This would be best... consistently doing the goons head to head would be heaven...

Repped for easily the best post in the thread. And the bravest.

I've managed to support Spurs for years without hating anyone, and in any given match I want the result to be the best one for Spurs, regardless of who's playing. Tribalism is inherent in us all, but it's overrated.

In fact I think we should form a group of people who aren't at all tribal, then we can gang up on those who are. I hate them so mu.. no, wait ...

fairplay to you guys took a bit of guts to say that. but i still disagree :), I think hating arsenal is part of the package of been a spurs fan, of course id want spurs success every time even if it meant arsenal winning and i would choose option 1 every time. But i do love to hate arsenal

There is a local park near me in Birmingham called highbury, if the mrs and I want to go for a walk i make sure we go to one further away... I just wont set foot in it.

Dunno why!

Our success comes first though

The more I think of it the more sense it makes that our success is primary. They dont need to be relegated to be scorned by our success.

I would take a shift in power over their relegation and our sustained postion.

If we could become the team that challanges the likes of Man U, Chelsea and Liverpool for the highest honours and places in the league on a consistant basis over the next ten years while they fell back into the gloom of mediocrity that we found ourselves in for as long as I can remember that would more the make up for the years of hurt we have endured.

I would love to see Wenger fall apart and his way no longer being effective. Arsenal missing out on CL qualification and going more and more years without silverwear while slipping into a midtable team hoping to reach the uefa cup places.

Interesting debate going on here. There is and always be a massive hatred for Arsenal for Spurs fans and visa versa. God I hate Arsenal and want them to win fuck all and do shit in the league for the next 10 seasons. I do agree thou Arsenal can play good football

I want to put something out there which i think is becoming more and more true. How much has your hatred grown for Chelski. For me the last few seasons it has been growning immensly and alot of people hate chelski and everything they stand for. They dont play good football they have a team of individual places, They have a fucking prick up front who will dive and complain till the cows come... the list is endless.

A couple of my Arsenal friends also agree. There hatred has also grown for chelski. I think Spurs will always hate the scum immensly but Chelski for me are right behind them. Whic leads me on to the question

Who is the most hated team in London

This might of been mentioned elsewhere, but the advert for teachers on at the moment really pisses me off. The teacher should obviously retort with 5-1 we beat the scum 5-1. Then detention for the little smartarse.

I'm a bit fed up of hearing about how much people hate Arsenal. Why do you take it so seriously, and why do you seem to take it so bloody pesonally? We didn't go to war with them, we weren't enslaved by them.

They invaded our territory. They bribed their way into the top flight at our expense, buying their league position after finishing 6th in the old Div 2, making them the very antithesis of what sporting competition is all about from that day to this. Until they get relegated and promoted again, all their glory is stolen glory. Plus they killed our parrot. They're despicable.

as a further point, while i would love to see them relegated, i live in the midlands and only no 1 goon, the ppl in town whom i poor scorn on every time o see the shirt would vanish so i would lose the major long term plusses to the relegation scenario. were i roght in the thick of it i might feel differently.

on the dubject of most hated team in london i would put a caveat on that, hated by who? if were talking by the general populace id say chelsea, after all, they were the team that just about managed to make the most hated team in the land the neutrals choice for the title and champions league, if we're limiting it to london and fans of london clubs id go with us

I unreservedly would prefer the option that sees Arsenal relegated. I think your choice probably depends on your life experience. Having lived for 4 years in Holloway Road - the heart of Gooner territory - and then run a pub in a 50/50 mixed area for a further 5 years I have suffered the Gooner smugness to such an extent that their relegation is paramount even if only to stop their cheating boasts about not ever having played at a level below the top league. Corrupt lying cheating scumbags. On a side note, when driving around the Holloway Road area, don't forget to shout "Child Abuse!" out the window when passing a Gooner family in full uniform - that's great sport and always gave me a warm and comforting glow of pure enjoyment.
