All top notch I suppose? That's why he's been voted the worst signing of the season in Spain.

All that shows is that the so-called Madridistas are a bunch of spoiled brats.

So, as I said, a bunch of spoiled brats.

All it shows me is that modric hasn't done very well this year, by there standards anyway. If Madrid were playing at our level maybe they would love him but when the demand is to win trophies every year the expectation is greater. Whether modric can hack it a become a truely world class player remains to be seen IMO.

pick as much as you want but you know the truth, he is class and would walk into Barca, Man Utd, Bayern etc...

And as for believing the press and fans voting Worst Signing... you should know from previous, like AvB etc..., that the press & noisiest fans are most often wrong

He wouldn't walk in to the Barca in any shape or form and in this form would find it hard to displace Martinez, Schweinsteiger or Kroos, Utd though definitely.

Real fans, and Spanish fans in general, are some of, if not, the most moronic fans in world football. Knee jerk, deluded and the epitome of glory hunters.

The likes of Marca are are to cater for these schmucks and make The Sun seem like high brow and the bastion of truth and reasonable debate.

Modric is a quality player, better than the vast majority of players in the game. Real is a different kettle of fish and can break a player though. I always had slight reservations about Modric's mentality. If he don't make it at Real it won't be because of his lack of ability.

Madrid is an odd club. The atmosphere has always been quiet, the fans used to see themsleves as art critics more than football fans (it being a bull fighting area). They applaud show boating and the amazing parts of the game. A great team player who pulls the strings (like Modric) will always be unappreciated there. It's like when they lost Makalele, they thought it wasn't important, but it set them back big time.

I agree completely. Great analogy of Real fans as art critics.

The Marca vote and Modric's not being appreciated there told me two things: Modric wasn't Spanish and he didn't have enough flair for his price.

He did very well. It's back to square 1 next year though. It will be interesting to see if the next RM manager will be a Modric fan. I think Ancelotti is so perhaps, if he gets the job, Luka will be an important player next season.

Ancelotti is basically a lock to be the next Real Madrid manager, and he is a Luka Modric fan. Praised him and was linked to him while at Chelsea and PSG. That doesn't mean he might not have other ideas for Madrid, but he (Modric) probably won't be left in the cold as he might have with another manager at the helm.

"I did not need to see him at the Euro to know how much talent he has," said the Italian.

"I knew his capabilities before. Now he has confirmed his high quality for those who did not know."

In the meantime, Inter sent some of its directors to Madrid to try and test the waters regarding a move for Modric. Can't see that happening, and even his manager came out saying he's not going anywhere.

Inter don't have the money for him. Real only just bought him for upwards of 30mil. If they sell him they'll want to recouperate some of the cash, he hasn't been a major flop and is still a great player. It's not like it's completely killed him career. Inter are struggling to find cash for big names now after Mourinho left, they won't be in for him. Milan and Juve have more cash, the former being more likely as the latter don't like to spend it so much and already have great centre mids/looking for a big striker.

Modric will stay I reckon. Real look like they could do with some rebuilding after Mourinho leaves. He tends to leave clubs in the lurch and slightly struggling, I guess that's just the effect he has on clubs. Porto, Chelsea and Inter all had to pick themselves up a bit after he left. Modric could certainly play more of a role under a new manager and would look good playing in a trio of him, Xabi Alonso and a defensive mid.

This was a fitting culmination of Modric's first year at Real in an important match.
He has taken time to establish himself at one of the top teams in the world.
He is not a great goalscorer and his talent is less showy than perhaps the RM fans prefer
but they are not stupid and appreciate a good footballer when they see one.
One of Modric's best performances possibly ever.

Some posters in this thread should be embarrassed about how little they know of football.
Luka Modric is one of the top 10 midfielders in world football and god help us all if Ferguson is smart enough to buy him.
