Where are McKenna and Mills? Two of our reserve regulars and haven't been seen in any squad for a few games.

I suppose that's what Robbo, Andy Reid and Mido have been doing at training then. Don't forget all the pies too.

The problem with THudd is his lack of mobility rather than fitness or fat issues. He has too much bulk on top so its more likely that he need to lose some on top and gain some below. More muscle bulk on the legs to give him the strength for greater speed and movement.

EXACTLY> We have seen a skinny mido. We have seen a skinnier Robbo only that lasted all of 1 month.

It is possible. I just think the old regime was lax. Robbo has already stated that they have upped the training under ramos:

And the difference between us and Man Uts etc (who have the fittest players IMO) is when they bring on a fresh face they look in shape and dont fade.

Look at The Prince. He was not Prem level fitness at all and faded in the second. This would not happen under Furgie.

Have you seen how broad Gerrard and Vierra are?

Hud is HUGE for a football player. No ifs or (fat) butts about it.

But it's not fat.

You seemed to be predisposed to thinking that big = fat.

It doesn't. And you're wrong.

No, they would have gone off injured, like Hargreaves and Carrick have attempted to do all season.

The more I think about this squad the better I like, is this the hand of Ramos and Poyet, because to have Pekhart Rose Berchiche and Pekhart in the squad sounds great to me.

You can be broad as well as mobile, Jason Robinson is broad and very mobile, Lomu as well to use another example. Huddlestone is a big lad, naturally, his size is not because he is fat and it's not why he isn't mobile either. It may just be that he isn't as fit as he should or perhaps could be and that's why he's getting a game in the ressies. Or it could simply be that he doesn't fit the Ramos bill. Whatever the reason it's not because he's too fat or muscular.

Tevez is fatter than Huddlestone.

I have seen Gerrard and Viera play in the flesh several times and they are about half the size of Huddlestone. He is the broadest player I have ever seen.

Hudds not fat, but his size does make him at times useless. For someone with so much muscle his bursts of speed are terrible. Doesnt need lose weight but maybe work on his running and sprinting, hsi size wouldnt be an issue if he had some mobility and speed.

height and weight wise he's not too different from Ledley and Ledley can catch Robben up even with a 25yrd head start :) Hudd will be slow at any weight.

it's biologically not in him... but hey! argue the point anyway.

Unfortunately those times often occur during football matches.

I think his speed and mobility are related to his weight. How tall was Viera? 6'2"? 4thegame reckons Hudd only weighs 11 stone 2lbs. I don't believe he's even under 12 stone!

When Dean Aston went to the Hammers he looked big, but they managed to slim his frame which improved his mobility and made him a possible England player. We need to do the same with Hudd. If we don't he won't fit into the way Ramos plays, because he likes mobile technical footballers who close down players quickly.

Hudd is technically the best at the club, but when it comes to mobility he comes last, I bet even robbo can turn and close a player down quicker then Hudd.

Hopefully he gets it right because I really think he can become a international player.

Weight wise he is much heavier than King, without doubt. He stands about the same height as Kaboul but I would say he is easily a couple of stone heavier.

I struggle to believe he is less than 14 stone! Let alone 12.

Huddlestone is not an athlete, I don't believe it is down to him being overweight, he is just not that way inclined.

I remember early reserve reports from SC forumites suggesting that the Hud's lack of mobility might prevent him even getting first-team chances at Spurs. At Derby, Burley played him at CB for most of a season, presumably to give him more time on the ball to use his passing skills. And BMJ made that fantastically hyperbolic comment about how Big Tom would be "the best sweeper in the world" if teams still played with sweepers.

And there's the rub. I'm sure our fitness team will be doing their utmost to improve his mobility, but you can't turn a slow player into Linford Christie. The only role the Hud could play in a Ramos team is the Christian Poulsen enforcer role, and whilst he's as good a passer as the Dane, he will never have the natural bloody-minded aggression. I like the Hud and think he has tons of natural ability, but I don't think he's a Ramos-type player.

Conversely, Zokora is an excellent athlete who should be ideal for Ramos' high-tempo pressing game. The worries about Zokora are his lack of a football brain, and poor passing. So here's an idea: let's get the mincer out and make a new player with Zokora's athleticism and the Hud's passing skills. ZokoHud would be quite some player!!!! :eek:mg::eek:mg::eek:mg:

It's the closest thing the bugger can get to making any new signings. Dervite is in there as well.

If some of the first team can't cut it then maybe someone young and unknown will. I'm not hoping for a messiah, I'm just hoping for someone who can offer more to the first team. Ramos will be getting known Brisbane road quite well over the coming months.

Who's the fella that does the reserve reports?
