I don't know why you are all having a go at me. For the people who say it is his natural frame, it means that he simply does not have the body for football.

My opinion is that he can improve with a world class fitness coach and will be a good player for us.

I think his frame is perfect and a lot of world class players have his height/presence like Gerrard/Vierra etc.

I think (pureley speculation) that going to the ressies is making it easier on his body for the workouts that the new fitness coach is about to spring on him.

Playing him full on in the Prem and giving him mega workouts would be too much strain on him.

Speaking as a Personal Trainer, it would be difficult for Huddlestone to lose 'weight' in the way that you're asking him to, without him losing some muscle mass. Subsequently his strength would also decrease. Not good.

How is that not good? Wiry is not weak by any means.

Where he is at now is not good.

But your asking him to become just a smaller version of himself. And for his frame that just aint happening.

Hudd is a massive kid, that's no doubt, but his passing and technique with the ball are superb - they don't lend themselves to each other naturally. If he was the build or size of Lennon then, with that touch, he would be unbeatable going forward, but he's not - he's big and solid and my choice for future holding midfielder for England.

He's proven his vision and passing, on their day, are devestatingly good and, so far this season, has shown signs of willing to get stuck in a bit, chase a few people down and has had to be subbed off early.

Something else to consider - he's 19 and is technically still growing to some degree (what a terrifying thought  ). Right now, where a 25 year old could change their regime straight up like that, it maybe much more prudent to take all the younger members of the team and put them back amongst the ressies - same training, less stress on game day, allowing them to assess both the effects of the training on their game AND on their bodies.

Push a youngster to work to hard and you could destroy his entire career.

Above all of this though, i'm sure Hudd will do what his new boss tells him and will be given the opportunity as soon as they think he's ready.

Of course, it could always be that Ramos doesn't see him as fitting into his system yet, who knows

losing musscle mass could help, but as Clive is saying, could also go the other way

losing the weight would help him move more freely aroudn the pitch, but he would still be a tall and well built guy (even if he lsot some of it) and would still need a good amount of muscle and strenght to move hismelf.... just got to find the correct balance! which IMO isnt to lose a hell of alot of it

I'm not expert. I do weights etc and know a little but some people will blow your mind when it comes to fitness.

Check out strongman Glen Ross:

Now check him out before he started strength competing:

That is the same bloke!

You just need the right tools for the right jobs. And in footie (esp in the middle of the park) Hud is TOO BIG as he is. And you can change ANYONES physical shape.

losing muscle mass would benefit him in the long run.

he would have better acceleration, but in the long run he wont have as much muscle to move his big frame around the pitch, which might make him less likley to last the 90 mins

Bloody hell.We aren't telling him to lose 5 stone. Just cut his muscle mass/bulk down. 1 stone would probably do the job.

Indeed Mr Babylon, but with Huddlestone's genetics he would find it extremely difficult not to put the muscle straight back on.

Numbers don't come into it at all. Muscle and fat weigh more or less the same, but a pound of fat is big and fluffy, and a pound of mucle is small and firm, and takes up less space in the body.

For the record, I totally agree he could trim down a bit and it is very achievable, just not the way your suggesting he does it.

with the way it was being said earlyer about looking gangly or something along those lines, 1 stone wouldnt be anywhere near like that.

there is no real point in messing around with Hudds stature and weight untill he really stops growing if he hasnt already, could just mess the kid up even more if we try and do whats good now when it might not be in afew years
