he just needs to get fit and bide his time.

Don't know his temperament when out of the team but hopefully he's not one of the 'i've been fit for 3 weeks and i'm not in the team. I want a move' brigade.

When he wasn't in the team previously that was all over the papers, iirc.

Thudd has been out of commission for a while now and i'm sure is chomping at the bit watching us do so well.

He wants to be out on the pitch and with Parker/Sandro injured atm he will be called upon and he knows this.

He's miles better than Livermore in every department (apart from pace of which i'm still yet to see Jake use to any great effect in a competitive game) - just get fit big man.

Id love to see a midfield with Huddlestone in it...for me, Huddlestone can be pure class.

Sandro Huddlestone Modric.

Huddlestone has proved to be a very valuable player for us in the past, and if he gets himself injury free and fit, will do so again, i think he has alot to offer us still. The season we got 4th he was superb....short memories some have, i think he would be vital in games like the west brom home game when teams come and park the bus, more and more teams will come and play that way here, and i feel Tommy could still play an important role if he gets his body right.

Well said

Jay it is an opinion I agree with. I just cannot understand why people here believe Hudd is anything but fourth choice now. As you say we are playing much better now than we ever did with him.

Hudd never played alongside parker, or with a target like Adebayor. Youdon't genuinely think he's a bad player do you? When he's fit again I fully expect him to play a big part in the end of our season.

Livermore had a good game against Everton. Well done and all that, but he's got a long way to go until he's proven his worth. Hudd is significantly better than him right now.

In the three or so tactical formations that we use, I can't think of a single one that Huddelstone would be first choice in if everyone was fit, and in a couple of them he wouldn't even be first back up.

If Redknapp plays 442 or 4411 then he'll use Parker, Modric & Sandro before Hudd I would hope. If he plays 433 and one of those three aren't fit then Redknapp might give him the nod ahead of Livermore or Pienaar, but I'm not sure he should.

We need to play a fast, dynamic short passing moving game. Huddlestone can't do this, he suits deep, counter attacking football with occasional long hoofs.

He's technically a good footballer, but his deficiencies outweigh his abilities.

No I don't think he is a bad player, but I do think that we have three better players who suite the way we play now better than Hudd. You cannot deny that we are playing much better now without him than we have done for a number of years. We move the ball quicker now on the counter attack, Parker and Sandro are much better winners of the ball and Modric a better greator.

This ankle problem of his has been going on for at least 18 months now and he hasnt looked at his best in that time, when he is back he will start down the pecking order and its going to be hard for him to work his way back up it. I hope after a second lot of surgery that he is fixed now because he can be an asset for us.

Exactly this. We try to play a quicker tempo passing game, and not just on the counter, in general. And we are much better for it. Huddelstone is not conducive to this.

Bentley and Jenas were also part of the midfield the season we got 4th are you suggesting we should employ their services as well? Huddlestone in my opinion would 4th choice defensive mid fielder behind Parker, Sandro and Livermore by a mile. He has always been over rated and had to be carried by the likes of Palacios in my opinion. Give him time and space and he may give a good pass or shot, other than that.....? Always said he was over hyped and overated.

Good post. I do agree that Parker and Sandro should be ahead of Hudd, but I'd still love to see him playing alongside Parker or Sandro.

You're right though. We've played our best football without him in the team.

Once he is fit enough to play think we should loan him out to championship club to get some proper match fitness under his belt. Obviously we can stick a recall clause in there in case we pick up an injury or two but without any proper reserve team he will just end up sitting on the bench until we need him to play so won't get the chance to get properly match fit.

It's going to be interesting to see what's going to happen to the likes of Huddlestone & Dawson in the coming months as they have both been pretty much first choice players for past 5/6 years now I can't see either of them getting into the team when the other players in there positions are fit.
