Don't worry Lloris is ours. Expect it. This has been setup to be an Aug 31st deal from the start. Even JJ has said so in previous days when Akqayid was like done..JJ responded not till 31st.. It's probably to help Lyon negotiate on a new keeper or to save money or ...or just cuz Levy wants it that way.. Who cares why. But sleep well. Hugo will be a Spur.

Great info YankeeYid9, speculation or insider information?

I'm not ITK but have info from person(s) I trust. Not on twitter etc. So I'll claim it as my own personal speculation/belief but it's based on better info than i'm privy to. And i'm not saying it was a done deal for weeks etc and we were holding out keeping it on the hush but that it was going to be a matter of waiting to the window end to see how money/targets played out and if things worked we'd be in and he was interested.

Lyon have given permission for Hugo Lloris to travel to England, but they insist that they have not yet agreed a deal with Tottenham. President Jean Michel Aulas also reveals how difficult talks have been with Spurs chief Daniel Levy.

F365 reporting these quotes from Aulas:

Here's Jean-Michel Aulas, about negotiations over Hugo Lloris.

"We have had people speaking all night with Daniel Levy. He talks a lot and goes back on what we've agreed in writing.
"The things as they were at 5am were not the same at 10am. I think we have to make sure we get a certain amount of value because it's important that Hugo can go to a quality club that allows him to do himself justice from a value point of view, so that he can feel right about it...
"It's been very, very difficult. I'vee got 25 years of experience as a president of a club and it's our 16th participation in a European competition in a row. But this is very rare in the football world.
"The negotiation with the Tottenham directors has been the hardest I have ever had to undergo in these 25 years."

I'm guessing because Daniel knows Lyon need to sell he is going to try and take the piss a bit, hopefully not too much mind but I still think he'll be ours by COB.

I'm not being funny, but anyone else reckon that some of the "going back on things that were agreed in writing" that Aulas was talking about could have just been confused emails over whether things were in pounds or euros? I reckon stuff like that happens more than we would think.

Hugo Lloris at Spurs Lodge for his medical. Clubs have agreed a €10m fee, rising to €15m. Looks a great deal if it goes through.
Medical at Spurs Lodge? Thought they were all done at Holly house?

Don't know if that got posted...

Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas has blasted Spurs for trying to go back on their deal to sign Hugo Lloris.

Aulas claims Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy asked to change the details of their original agreement with the French club, despite already signing off on a fee.
"We have had people speaking all night with Daniel Levy. He talks a lot and goes back on what we've agreed in writing," Aulas explained.
"The things as they were at 5am were not the same at 10am. I think we have to make sure we get a certain amount of value because it's important that Hugo can go to a quality club that allows him to do himself justice from a value point of view, so that he can feel right about it."
It is now uncertain whether the two clubs will reignite negotiations, with the deal currently stalled.
"At the moment we're talking about whether he can come back to say his goodbyes to the supporters, to his team-mates, so we can honour him, this truly great player and brilliant man. I would put it at 50-50 that Hugo goes to Tottenham.
"Although from the outset we've submitted to agreements I would now put it at 50-50 that he'll be going there. Agreements have not at all been respected. We've done what we can. Hugo has been troubled by the difficulty in these negotiations."
Lloris would be a massive loss for Lyon, as he has been the club's first-choice goalkeeper for the past four years.
"He's one of the best in Europe in his position. Our transfer window is open until September 4 but for Tottenham the English transfer window closes on August 31. Either it happens tonight or not at all for Hugo Lloris.
"The negotiation with the Tottenham directors has been the hardest I have ever had to undergo in the 25 years I've been a president. We had email exchanges which have been contradicted, so that's made it very complicated. It's difficult. The Tottenham board's theory is to explain that the economic market is very hard and so we have to get used to renegotiating."
The deal with Spurs has been a long drawn process, and it will be a test of both clubs to get the transfer through before the close of the window.
"We've been negotiating all night. The first negotiation was at the start of the window, about a month-and-a-half ago, through an intermediary who was a French lawyer, who lives in Lyon. And then nothing for about a month-and-a-half. The negotiation then picked up again about a week ago."

Aulas is very skilled in this business, usually gets the best out of the deal and prides himself on his negotiating skills...DL must be really a nightmare (in a good way, for us) to do business with - happy we have him as our president, and even more happy I don't have to deal with him in my work!
