They will spend big, Abramovich has more or less admitted he will green light a mega spending spree as he wants to enable the club can retain the CL. Plus the chief exec came out today and said the club can now compete with man city even more than previous.
I suppose this is only true if, as Riandor says above (thanks Riandor!), FFP is got round. Being a desperate optimist this afternoon (I get one afternoon a month) FFP will put the frighteners on them. Please don't be negative yet - my optimsm runs till 6pm. It's like an electronic tag.

Definitely the sort of player THFC should be aiming for powerful quick can play across the front line but Portugal clubs have a habbit of overpricing their players so for that reason we have no chance.

Or they know they're going to get Battersea. That would allow them to do the same as Citeh in regards to building a massive money making machine around the club with the extra London premium bolted on top to make them even more money...

Shit.

US Embassy vetoed Chelsea's bid for Battersea. I've just sold a flat in Battersea so was told this by the Estate Agent (my one, not the one presumably dealing with the power station itself).

Now, I've only seen him a couple of times (during Porto's Europa League run the season before last) but to me he looked to have exactly the attributes needed to be a success in the Premier League - lightning fast, stacked and strong, good finisher...

There's no way we could compete with Chelsea in an auction, but I wouldn't be upset if we signed him. If we do though, you'd have to assume that the Remy deal is off.

The thing is it doesn't kick in for another 2 years at least and then it will start off with minor punishments and build up. Would be done considerable years before it ever got to the stage where a team would be expelled from Europe. Plenty of time to get deals done and play the system. Sadly thoughts that Man Shitty won't be eligible for CL in 2014 are wide of the mark.
But money spent now does count already. So no, no punishments until later, but net spend now is supposedly important.

Alas I fear the worst you will see is slapped wrists and public denouncements from UEFA and in the end, nothing. Nada... Clubs will be allowed to do Man City-esque deals or new clubs won't but clubs already doing it will.

UEFA's ruling of FPP is a kick in the teeth to clubs in our shoes, wanting to spend to break the big boys up but not rich enough to ignore UEFA's threats. So we will abide by the rules and continue to hover around top 4 whilst the City, Chelsea and Barcelona's of the football world do what they want.

For all the praise Barce get, they really should get a kicking for how they come by their funds.

Sorry, on topic I still don't think we will sign this guy, he is being whored out at outrageous sums to all and sundry and whilst I think he has the attributes to be a good EPL player, the sums quoted are the only thing incredible here.

This is precisely the reason why the G14 backed the FFP plans - they didn't want any 'upstarts' challenging their domination by having more money than them. The rules will do very little but permanently cement the position of the clubs at the top.

He might have crap touch but he is absolutely killing the Danish defenders. He'll be good at Chelsea, not worth the money but still good.

£38m? Jesus. Just when I thought Chelsea were settling down a little they break the bank again. I just hope Hulk and Hazard flop big time.
