The Octopus wants to win things!

Sky Sports news said:
Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has set his new club the ambitious target of winning the Premier League.

Gomes is expected to be Spurs' No.1 next season following his move from PSV Eindhoven and the departure of Paul Robinson to Blackburn.

Tottenham's long-term aim is to break into the Premier League's top four and manager Juande Ramos has had a busy summer as he attempts to build a squad capable of challenging for a place in the UEFA Champions League.

However, Gomes believes the club should set their sights higher and is eager for domestic glory.

"I am not thinking of just making it into the first four," Gomes told Sky Sports News.

"I am thinking of winning, being first or second, in that range."

"Some people might say I am aiming very high, but that has always been my thinking."

"I think as a champion and I want to win."

That's good to hear. A bit of hunger and ambition in the squad. It doesn't matter if it's possible or even feasible. But if he can instill a little of that hunger in the rest of the squad, then I have no doubt there will be exciting times at the Lane very soon!

I said after the First PSV game, I said it again after the second game and again after seeing clips of him. Gnomes is a lunatic. A class 1 fruit loop.

I saw this earlier too, good man, might not be realistic, but who cares?? One thing's for certain you're not going to win anything unless you believe you can.

glad to see he is ambitious. I would rather they go in 2 the season thinkng that way. I don't get teams that say we are aiming for top half or top 8. I always felt that was Charlton's problem back when they were in the Premiership with Curbishly. There aim was always to get 40 points and stay safe and when they got there they would do nothing for the rest of the season

That attitude is spot on. Don't aim for 4th. Aim for 1st and be console yourself that 4th isn't that bad when we finish there.

Hopefully Ramos is trying to build a squad as ambitious as he is. Do you think he would have left Sevilla, 3rd in la liga to aim for fourth in the premiership? Having heard from all of our summer signings (Gomes, Modric, Dos Santos and Bentley), they all seem like ambitious signings who wish to do something with their careers. thats the kind of miondset that we need at the club.
