If you could buy one player this year

If we could only sign one player this year (so no summer signings) but we could have any one player in the world, who would you want? I'm thinking along the lines of one player who would transform our current squad and make us top 4 contenders again. Then, think realistically, and say who we could get instead as an alternative.

Sorry to add another what if thread but it should give a good indication of the sort of player people find as the most crucial.
