This is where the DoF model can fail. If the DoF guarantees a player starts, it’s a recipe for disaster IMO. What if Nuno has bonded really strongly with existing players?

I very much doubt Paratici has guaranteed Moriba a starting place. It's obviously nonsense/mis-translation etc. Just common sense should tell you that.

Or, hear me out, what if that random tweet is nonsense?

Totally. I can imagine anything like that would be more along the words of - we rate you very highly and you will be expedited into the first team match day squad and receive game time in cups and PL both. It’s a long old season with many games to go around if we advance okay in Europe.

Apologies if already shared but I thought this a really interesting thread for any Twitter users on the situation with his agency. Not going to go through and translate each of them.

Its been covered already in the thread but it gives a bit more detail about the agent and confirms that he is the parasite in all of this.

I wonder if the player can even afford to sack the agent/agency.

Tweet thread translated:

The story of Ilaix Moriba is the paradigm of the evil that representation agencies do. Ilaix's trusted man is called Brais Lorenzo, a Galician who worked at Stellar Group, a company of Gareth Bale's representative. He recently moved to Rogon and Ilaix followed him.

Rogon, who is a representation company that until two days ago had no presence in Spain, this spring has come in strong not only taking Ilaix but several Celtic promises through the influence of Brais Lorenzo and his clients of the stage with Stellar.

Rogon has his most important clients in the figure of players who are in the Bundesliga or have gone through the Bundesliga such as Roberto Firmino, Julian Draxler, Marcel Sabitzer or Tilo Kehrer. And Rogon has a pact to bring Ilaix to Leipzig by charging a juicy commission.

The strategy rogon has followed since he signed Ilaix Moriba last May has been to give Barca the chance to renew and take him to Germany. Lepizig has not given face until the end of August, presenting an embarrassing first offer of € 6M.

And I say embarrassing offer because if the salary figures requested by Ilaix's representation agency at Barca are true, Leipzig are clearly willing to pay a salary that corresponds to a player much more valuable than the €8M with which they have stood. the Germans.

The theme is that Leipzig's low bid for Ilaix and the juicy commission Rogon will take away are communicating vessels. The more Barca charge, the less Ilaix will be charged and the less fee Rogon will take. 10 years of training vs. 3 months of representation. Pure scavengers. Parasites.

All sounds like pretty normal stuff agents do to me.

This if true is absolutely fantastic journalism, well spotted.
This highlights the upcoming problem football will have with agents and The next generation of football players, maybe it’s already happened with the likes of Sancho?

The best agents take care of their players' interests first and foremost. That may mean touting them about when they want a move for whatever reason - they're not beholden to the player's club*, after all.

This guy seems to have slightly different priorities.

(*Typically, anyway. Sometimes the agent acts for the club and the player in a deal, which seems like a situation ripe for abuse, but there you go.)

This one wants to set his client's career back a year just so he can personally gain. It's disgusting.

I’m not going to stand here and defend the agent, because he absolutely could be a parasite - lots of them are. But the Barca slant on some of these articles (all from Barca journos) seems over the top. As far as I can tell, the story is:

Barca wanted to renew his contract, on a 6 year deal with a massive release clause. He asked for wages matching a six year deal with a massive release clause, but Barca can’t give anyone pay rises at the moment, half their players are taking pay cuts just to stay solvent (which is absolutely not the responsibility of a youth player to do, by the way).

So his agents reject the deal (didn’t we just have a transfer saga where the moral of the story was don’t sign a six year deal if the terms aren’t to your liking)? Barca throw a fit and say they won’t play him at all with his contact running down.

So the agent tell them to do one, and go line up a new deal, not with PSG or Chelsea but with one of the best clubs in the world for developing young players. Because of the contract issues, they negotiate better wages and fees, since RB get to skip the transfer fee. Nothing very weird about that.

Then RedBull go to Barca and offer a few € for the player now, knowing he’s worthless to Barca otherwise. They get offended, and start looking for suitors who will pay more. Paratici gets wind and gets involved.

Now the player has two options - an offer from Spurs on probably pretty decent terms, or an offer from RB on more money (because of the lack of transfer fee) but the prospect of a year in the reserves. The agent’s preference, probably, is to strongarm Barca into taking the lowball offer now. If Barca hold firm, which it seems they are, then a decision must be made.

From the noises we’ve been hearing, the player likes our offer. We won’t know the agent’s position until it’s over. And Barca are pumping out tons of negative press to cover the fact that one of their best talents is leaving them mostly because of their own financial stupidity.
