Tottenham hold talks with agents of exiled Barcelona starlet Ilaix Moriba amid his bitter contract stand-off... but are cautious about prospect of landing 18-year-old amid competition from Chelsea and Manchester City

Tottenham are exploring a move for unsettled Barcelona teenager Ilaix Moriba.

Spurs are among the admirers of midfielder Moriba who made his first-team Barca breakthrough last season.

As well as Metz's Pape Matar Sarr, the north Londoners are understood to have also held talks with representatives of Moriba this week but are cautious about their prospects of landing the 18-year-old amid fierce competition for his signature.

Moriba's camp have been in discussions with Barcelona chiefs over a new deal for months.

But he rejected Barcelona's offer and negotiations are at a standstill with the two parties failing to find common ground on the players' wages.

All-action midfielder and Guinea-born Spain youth international Moriba has just one year left on his current deal.

And the potential opportunity to land one of La Liga's most exciting youngsters for around £13m has alerted numerous clubs including RB Leipzig, Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid along with Spurs.

Football Manager god

Doesn't he apparently want £100k a week though? and that's why he hasn't renewed with Barca.

Would be some kind of statement. His FB Ref page is one of the sexiest things I've ever seen. Those numbers and player comparisons, along with the eye test, make it clear the kid is already a star on his way to being a superstar. If we could get him he'd walk into our team from day one and be incredible.

Feels like too good an opportunity for the elite to pass up. I guess we'd be able to offer a more direct pathway to the first team which could work in our favour.

I think this may be one of the few advantages of the europa conference league, we can sign these younger talents and develop them with first team football because of the quality of the competition. Being in this tournament may have some big long term benefits I feel.

Only problem is his attitude and the fact he's supposedly been asking Barca for €100k a week.

Uber talented but in danger of losing his way a bit so we'd have to be very very sure that he wouldn't become a problem going forward.

Haven't watched him played before. Is he really that good?

But would love to see these talented starlets for a refresh of mentality in the squad. And would love our team to be the youngest in average age in the league.

This is the kid I’d like us to get. His ceiling is huge but he’s already been incredibly poorly advised/ influenced hence his exile at Barcelona

I've not seen him play but know how highly rated he is. Would those that know more about him expect him to play for us this season?

I haven't been all that impressed by him myself. Would prefer Puig to be honest. I guess the advantage of Ilaix is he has the physical aspects for the Premier League. He's certainly got potential though.
