There's nothing that could fill a spurs shaped hole in my life. I can't ever be 'done'. It's part of what I am and what made me what I am. I'm as likely to sever a limb.

What pisses me off most, is: we should be England's third team by now but Dirty Money means Man City and Chelsea are up there.

Chelsea should be a footnote by now and City should be a yoyo club.

No point anyone earning success.

Spurs until I die though.
Lol I don't think our supporters are any different, we'd lap up the dirty money.

I've supported us through worse and if I had a season ticket, you'd have to prize it from my cold, dead hands.

That is the response I like to hear

*psst - how is the health? Feeling poorly? Got your season ticket on yer? :shifty:

I had already prepared myself for an absolute pasting, so it didn't really upset me. I've had a few texts from mates but I just respond by saying "Dunno what you mean mate, I don't really follow football"

The way our defence has been picked apart this year whenever anyone has really had a go it was just a matter of time before this happened. If a team as shite as West Ham can put 3 past us on our own patch, we shouldn't be all that surprised when Aguero, Navas, Negredo and co can put 6 past us at theirs.

AVB has been unable to organise a defence, a genuine midfield strategy and any type of consistent, repeatable attacking strategy in the whole time he's been at Tottenham. Absolutely criminal considering he had over 100m worth of players come through the door.

You can whinge about dirty money but no team has ever been handed 85m from the sale of a single player to finance a whole new squad. It's not dirty money but it is still silly money. We spent only second to City this season, so we should be challenging. Levy has reinvested money into the squad for us to be able to do that - instead of paying himself and Uncle Joe a sweet dividend.

The players have to play for the club.... you get the feeling some are more concerned about other things.

Spot on fella lets hope the board and levy can see this as it's time to for change.

I don't think so just yet. AVB is very good at convincing people by using the 'record points' argument from last year. But anyone with any objectivity can see that Bale's outstanding individuality was the main reason for that. It's almost as bad as 2 points 8 games.

Yes it is but the signs are there that maybe there are deeper issues.
The west ham and Newcastle games were put down to freak result and goalkeeper playing out of his skin but yesterday was a descent back to the bad old days for me.
Andre was getting away with it a few weeks back when we were getting one nil wins and obviously not conceding but things didn't look right then and know it's a whole lot worse.
I think there will be a change soon as we have the window approaching in a few weeks and anyone new coming in will want to use it.

I know someone who passionately supported Spurs for years, then gave up following football altogether. He had a few other things going on in his life and said he just didn't need the added misery.

Personally I'm very close to being done with football. Not because of Spurs, but because of corrupt teams like Chelsea making the whole thing a waste of time.

This. I love watching Spurs but there's too much money in the game now, regarding other principles I have generally, following football is becoming increasingly untenable for me.

I don't know mate. In the league when Hull had a go they looked like they had the far better chances. Lloris has been in good form this year and made vital saves when we've strugled to create chances (Newcastle aside).

The thing is most people were on board when we were grinding out points, but 9 of our points have come from 1-0 penalty games where the opposing team really hand on heart wanted a draw. The problem we have now is that we've gone 12 games without seeing us play very well at all. Instead of us grinding out those 1-0 wins progressing towards the whole team clicking, we now have gone the other way and are not scoring, but shipping goals. Teams know now that our clean sheet/good defence is a bit of a farce because when you actually have a go, you can score.

I think back to Villa in the cup. We were 1-0 up, the ball came over the top and Helenius was clean through (criminal defending), Jan pulls down Helenius' pants and nothing happens. The game goes to 1-1, Jan goes off and it's a different game. The signs were always there, but AVB loves stats. The clean sheet stat is lovely, but with a little bit of analysis you can see we've been rding our luck all year.

You make it sound like we should be grateful, if a player is sold, I would expect it to be reinvested in the squad rather than put in to the owners pockets.

You say that, but how many clubs actually do that consistently? When the club was on the stock exchange, the board was expected to pay out some dividend. The club's decision to delist means they are more free to reinvest, because there is no market demand for return on investment at the end of the financial year. So yes, we should be grateful.

Lots of clubs do it consistently, Everton just done it with the Fellani money. Levy and Lewis enjoy good pay already, it's in their best interests as owners to try and make the team better. More success on the pitch means more money for them, especially if they are looking to sell, which I think they will do when the time is right.

I dont know about you but I get really pissed off with our failure as a club to ever capitalise or progress with anything.
Whenever we seem on the verge of achieving or winning anything we fuck it up always without fail and leaves us back to square one .
We would like to see us in champions league again but when is that ever going to happen or win silverware of which I have waited all my life to see us win the league but that isn't going to happen either.
We just seem to be a nearly club and I think without a sheik or a russian to push us on we are going to stay that way.

Yeah sure. Except no.

They could've spent half and put half towards the new stadium. The new stadium will be a huge asset for any potential buyer ultimately making Lewvy more money in the longer term.

And did Everton? They got 27.5m for Fellaini. Who did they buy? McCarthy?

Edit: Everton sold Anichebe for 6m, bought Kone for 6m, sold Fellaini for 27.5m and bought McCarthy for 13m. The only other purchase was Joe Robles for 2m. So they retained 12.5m or 37%(!) of their total transfer sales.

I would have had no objection putting half the money into the stadium because it's still being put back into the club but I certainly feel no gratitude at all for the fact they haven't reward themselves with a big fat pay out.

As for Everton Fellani was sold at the last minute so they were limited in terms of buying other players. All in all they've spent 26 million and I dare say that Kenwright will keep that money which is left for Martinez.
