If we had been long ball specialists we'd of been going long every game to him countless times. Games like Inter at home, lives long in the memory...not one long ball to Crouch that night.

I remember a few though that came off...knocking one down for Defoe, who scored, against City when Hughes was in charge. By in large though it wasn't a regular theme to our play week in week out ten times a game, but a tactic we had available to us when we needed to mix it up a bit.

Not enough to be branded a long ball side, that's for sure.
I'm not sure that someone will agree with you there Pinky.

Can you not remember BC running along the touchline every game with his trundle wheel? Yes I said Trundle wheel, I am a child of the '80's

I will deny it, because it didnt happen, We played some of the best passing football I've ever seen us play.

I can't comment on what football you've seen us play.

But, under Harry, we weren't a passing team in the classic Spurs tradition.

When we were at our best, we were a brilliant counter attacking team. Pace, rather than passing, was the hallmark of our game.

Very different.

Yes, but we still played with the ball on the deck, we played through Modric, we were not hoofing at from back to front. Yes we we played the odd long ball, so did Fergie's United teams, sometimes you have to mix it up.

Already had that discussion, mate, and said all I'm going to say about it!

Would you give Naughton the season at right back if Walker got injured? Or would you rather we got someone in the transfer window?
I personally would have got a RB during this summers window, I think Walker certainly needs to be challenged, I would give Naughton the season, not because I think he is particularly good but because enough money has been spent already.

Unfortunately Mullers that happens in all walks of life.

I started a jib in feb of this year, working for a franchise. It was a small place that had no sales direction. The boss took me on to give the business a new sales direction, I duly did that, we started to get great results. Around June the Head office of the Franchise company, advertised a sales job, more money, more stability, more perks, I was encouraged by them to apply for it. I didn't as I had started a project and wanted to see it through. My boss let me go in August because I had changed everything for him and he was sat on his arse doing nothing and realised that he could save a wage by doing it himself.

I hadn't been there long enough for any pay off, let alone a multi million pound one like AVB would get if he was sacked.

I am still struggling for work now, I have two children and no partner to support me anymore, so forgive me if I don't feel sorry for the modern manager.

I'm sorry to hear that Matt, I hope you find a job soon, I remember you said something about working in Paris?

I could tell you similar stories and it motivates me to treat people better than that. AVB is very well paid so obviously won't suffer, but from my point of view even though I don't know him personally, I want to behave in the correct way.

Sorry mate, I didn't mean to come across as wanting sympathy or anything, I was just using a personal situation to illustrate my point about treating people good or bad.

It motivates me aswell, and to be fair it always has, but I can understand why some fans won't feel sympathetic if he does get sacked, because managers, players etc, are so far detached from the normal fan it's just unreal

Thank you though

Well that's just several shades of wrong all over.

There were many games where we dominated all or part of them by being a passing team. I think you mean we were at our best when counter-attacking, which is correct, but to say we were never a passing team is false.

Nice try!

Your efforts to tempt me into citing the straw man response are doomed to failure...........this time.

Yeah what makes me laugh about this whole "crisis" we are in is that we are 4pts off 2nd place with half a new squad!

There have been far far darker times at Spurs and I find it comical the hysteria going on with the fans and press! I remember the cold January evening in 2003 when Southampton beat us 4-0 in the FA Cup ...now THAT was embarrassing!

Back on the subject "Tottenham till I die"

Lived through the mid 70's, saw us just miss relegation, then relegation, then promotion. The last 2 managers we have ever given time has gone on to produce. No patience these days football is all about money.

Going back to Sunday, yep the result hurt, but it never hurt as much as being 2-0 up against Arscum, then losing 5-2.

All this chat about playing attractive footy under Arry, yet he never had to gel a whole team, give AvB a chance, we had a similar run this time last season concerning the results and he turned it around
